Speaking out against the Iraq war left the Hollywood actress Susan Sarandon and her family facing death threats and a stream of vicious attacks from the public and the media, she reveals today.
Sarandon, who is hoping to play 'Peace Mom' Cindy Sheehan in a film about the mother's protest over her son's death in Iraq, said she feared for her safety because of the 'horrifying' way in which she was targeted by newspapers, radio phone-ins and people in the street.
In an interview on the Jonathan Dimbleby Programme that will be aired on ITV1 today, she said her stance meant she was labelled a 'Bin Laden Lover'. 'The papers attacked my kids,' she said. 'I don't think I ever thought that someone would really kill me... although some said, "I'd like to knock her off," on the radio.' Sarandon said she was a New Yorker who was heavily affected by 11 September 2001 but she attacked George Bush for 'hijacking' it. 'I was here, I saw the buildings go down, my kids were in school, I rounded them up through the smoke. I had friends on that first plane, you know it certainly affected everybody in this city.' But she said that every time anything happened the Republicans would 'try to play that card' and criticised the Democrats for failing to stand up to Bush.
'There was no reason for Hillary Clinton, for instance, to vote (for the war), for John Kerry to vote, they were protecting their reputations. They crumbled under the pressure and it was a very lonely, very scary time to ask a question. That's a horrible condition to exist in a democracy.' Hillary Clinton, added Sarandon, lacked principles. 'I think she's a politician like everyone else.'

Well, the poor little victim.
She has obviously never learned the art of when to speak up; and when to shut up.
Sarandon's nose isn't big enough to talk through a'la Sheehan, although there are similar amounts of gray matter behind the sinus cavities.
I like Susan Sarandon as an actress...forget what recent movie it was that had her portrayed as a woman who had gone through a difficult time. Part of the preview involved someone suggesting she go to therapy. Her response (while shredding self-help books and throwing them in a fireplace) was "This IS therapy." Not one of her funnier moments, but still, she is a fairly good comedic actress.
However, this does not give her any sort of qualification to tell me how to vote. This goes for her and every other inhabitant of Hollyweird.
Poor, stupid woman. She's perfect to play the role of Sheehan.

I am not so sure. Maybe 'Create your bed' might be more accurate.
Personally I have not read anything that would be considered threatening when it comes to Sarandon. I have not heard anything threatening on any radio program.
Is it possible she is saying these things in an interview because she needs the attention?
Or wait, maybe it's the fact that everyone in Hollyweird KNOWS that this Sheehan movie is going bomb so bad! She is trying to get free publicity now and is also putting out the reason for the movie bomb when it does fall on its face.

My first impression on reading this is here's one more attempt to gain some sort of support from the public at any cost. Regardless, whatever comes is just more lib blather and nothing more. Someone threatened her? Who attaches that much importance to her?I am reminded of the scene in Casa Blanca when Peter Lorry asks Rick if he despises him. "I don't know that I give you that much thought. Maybe I would if I did."
It would be interesting to know if any of that were actually true.
NO ONE has cared about what you've had to say about anything you have an opinion on, you cheap whore. Fame and fortune do not give you a podium in which to espouse your perverted views on geopolitics. That actually requires more education that you have had, Ms. Sarandon. Just concentrate on what you are good at, BAD ACTING.
