Where is it?

Would you be surprised if I told you it was in Berkeley?

Can it survive a cat-5 hurricane?

From the looks of it, one hopes not, and if it did , how would you know?

I lived in Berkeley for three years in the 70's and in North Oakland in the late 90's. So I would believe anything about Berkeley, except sensible things. What amazes me is that I never came across this house--even by Berkeley standards, it is loonie-tunes.

I'm trying to remember where Matthews St. is.

At least they're giving some thought to submerging the bridge. A similar idea would work (although it's currently somewhat beyond the technology) for bridging the Atlantic to make ground traffic between the Americas, Europe, and Africa practical as well as possible. Ideally, the entire span would be extruded as a single piece, in orbit, of (perhaps) metallic foam, using materials obtained in space, coated with an ablative shield (also obtained in space), and deorbited at the right time to come in at the right spot.

As I said, it's currently somewhat beyond the technology.

I wonder how difficult it would be for some Moslem terrorist cretin to drive a suicide truck bomb down into the middle of the tunnel in an effort to wipe out the casinos and bars on the middle island?

"The move has, however, horrified many in southern Spain - including British expatriates - who fear that a bridge would lead to a huge surge in illegal immigration from Africa."

No kidding, Sherlock. As though the Spanish have not already tried to self-immolate with Mooslim immigrants. Building a bridge to Africa makes as much sense as providing free bus service from the inner city to your suburban house.

I don't understand why the West is so insistent on commiting suicide, but undeniably it's happening before our very eyes.

Just what a cash strapped Europe needs and wants - a stream of new immigrants without education and full of diseases and dispair.

Just in case no one has said it yet:

They will only be doing the jobs that native Europeans won't do.
