Before this weekend's free airshow at Naval Air Station Atlanta, AJC staffer Steve Beatty joined Lt. Kevin Davis for a fun-filled afternoon of barrel rolls and other tricks high above Athens in a $24 million F/A-18.
Beatty only passed out three times.
See the highlights.

Get a load of this!
I always love it when the Blue Angels take up a local reporter. The results are always entertaining.

Are those acute or obtuse blue angles?

Are those acute or obtuse blue angles? If you're piloting an FA-18...you'd better be acute.

Great videos, but the reporter looks a little silly chewing his gum.

I remember the days when we had to lock ourselves up in a small room sans windows to work on the avionics plans for this bird when it was still top secret...... and I NEVER EVEN GOT TO RIDE IN ONE ..... DANG-IT-ALL!

Could the misspelling in my title be corrected? (Angles should be Angels)
Thanks either way!

Was fun to watch the reporter pass out though.....heh heh

The chewing gum helps the untrained to adjust to quick pressure altitude changes. Opens your ear canal.

This is hilarious, although that reporter was lucky he didn't swallow that damn gum.

Coolest part of the whole thing was on the first clip, watching the ground moving away as the F18 climbed straight up.

watching the ground moving away as the F18 climbed straight up. From the rattling of the building I'm in I think they're doing that right now.

"Right."
Now, stop that! Angles...triangles...what's the difference, anyhow. As long as they're blue...it's OK by me if they're equilateral, although I would let my daughter marry one.
