Per FR rules per Gannett newspapers, only a link is allowed.
The article details how the Southern Baptist Conference told President Bush, they were offended that the govt has not done more to enforce immigration laws, yet the next day Southern Baptist leaders met in Atlanta to honor a Hispanic Baptist minister(Jorge Alberto Urbina) as missionary of the year for his work of launching a record number of churches in Tennessee, whose pews are mostly filled with illegal immigrants.
Now there is a contingent on FR who are saying that the Catholics are only endorsing immigration reform because it will bring in new members. Guess what the Southern Baptists are doing it also, except they add IMO, hypocritical political posturing to the mix.
Shouldn't this minister be kicked out of the SBC for preaching to illegal immigrants, per your rhetoric.
When were Baptists ever united? We only have one leader and it isn't the SBC.
Hey Dane,
How long before you start calling people racists because they want to stop the flow of illegals coming across our borders?
The only division that this issue is causing is between the patriotic, those who love this country and want to keep America safe and secure for our children and grandchildren , and those that are unpatriotic, don't care about securing this country for their families, don't care if socialists run this country, don't care if dangerous militant groups like the illegals take over.
And that sums up the pro-illegal and the ones who oppose them. Those who are pro like some of our senators had better see these illegals from mexico and other countries for what they really are, dangerous militant who are taking over all our jobs and who HATE Americans and all we stand for because they are jealous of us.
Okay Dane give it your best shot, are you PRO America, patriot or not??
Dane never loses an opportunity to attack Christians and conservatives. He loves illegal immigrants and the hundreds of billions of dollars they are costing us in social services, free medical services & welfare. Dane tries to masquerade as a conservative by his tag lines, which is the only conservative sentiment he ever expresses. Otherwise he is a flaming troll and liberal.
Guess what the Southern Baptists are doing it also, except they add IMO, hypocritical political posturing to the mix.
Too much of a stretch.
Christianity is evangelical. A Church has a duty to shepherd new members into the flock and minister to them, be they Chinese in China or illegal Chinese immigrants in San Francisco. Evidently, the SBC honored Urbina for his success at spreading the Good News
Amen sister.
Baptist ping
Shouldn' this post be in the religion forum?
Hmmm...
The title of the article does not say "immigration divides Baptists." It says the "immigration debate divides Baptists." Of course, if you have a debate you would expect there to be more than one viewpoint. Beyond that however, if one reads the article, it actually does not make much of a case that Baptists are divided.
JW
Uh I ain't the one bashing Christians or conservatives, I'm bashing those who according to their rhetoric on FR would have no problem shutting down newly begun Baptist churches because the majority of their congregation are illegal immigrants.
Dane to begin spouting racism charges in 3....2....1
That is my fault, I did not cut and paste the title, but typed it myself and accidentily left out the word "debate".
You forgot to tell Al Mohler, Richard Land and the late Adrian Rogers.
Right. Everything divides Baptists: musical style, what color carpet for the sanctuary, Scriptural inerrancy, and on and on.
Were they dancing?
"Okay Dane give it your best shot, are you PRO America, patriot or not??"
He IS a registered Democrat ... take it from there.
