For myself I'm sticking with the hand thats been dealt, Republicans do or die.That becomes a steadily losing game. Republicans will keep shifting to the left (because they have no incentive not to), and take the whole country with them. There have to be consequences for bad behavior, otherwise the whole exercise is pointless.
Bush would never have replaced Miers with Alito if he didn't think there was any chance of revolt by conservatives. That means politicians understand pressure.

The Miers nomination, I feel was the straw that broke the conservative camels back. I still say we vote for a conservative Republican when we can, a moderate if we have no other choice. But we must keep the Republicans in the majority in '06, if not it will be impeachment, censure and higher taxes.
