Actually, like broken clock that is right twice a day, Islam got one thing right from it's inception and prohibited racism declaring that man's color is between him and god. Being an "infidel" or "muslim" is not a matter of color or ethnicity. (Discussions about Islamic misogynism is left for another time.)
This wannabe terrorist may have been many things but definitely not an "infidel" for islamists.
