Local residents who say they are motivated by the recent show of force among Hispanics throughout the nation and here in Atlanta plan two separate protest rallies against illegal immigration at the state Capitol over the next three days.
A Smyrna mother-daughter duo, Pam Pinkard and Donna Walker, are staging "Americans' Job and Tax Rally" at 3 p.m. today. The women say they're relying on e-mail and word-of-mouth to draw people to their event, and have no idea how many will show.
"We have no organization," Walker said Friday. "We're just a group of people that are fed up."
On Monday, D.A. King of Marietta is holding a noon rally at the Capitol to protest recent calls by illegal immigrants for amnesty.
King, founder of the Dustin Inman Society an anti-illegal immigrant group has a far more organized network, although his most successful rally to date, held earlier this year, only drew about 75 people.
King said he believes rallies around the nation by illegal immigrants and their allies, including a Monday rally in Atlanta that drew an estimated 40,000 people, have stirred Americans to action.
"Let me say that I am very, very grateful to the illegal alien amnesty lobby for putting these rallies on," King said Friday. "I probably have received 5,000 e-mails, people asking me to do something to respond to the illegal aliens and their supporters rallying in the streets and demanding unconditional citizenship in this country."
King also said he doesn't know how many people will show up for his rally. But he doesn't feel competition from today's rally.
"I applaud them," King said of the Smyrna women, "for taking it upon themselves to organize resistance to what we all see happening in our state and nation. I think there should be a rally every day of every week from now until the day the government secures our borders and applies our law equally."
King's rally will feature several guest speakers, including state Reps. Melvin Everson (R-Snellville) and Matt Dollar (R-Marietta), a legal U.S. immigrant, an American landscaper put out of work because he couldn't compete with illegal immigrant labor and a spokesman for Americans for Immigration Control.
Pinkard and Walker say they got involved because of what they see happening around them. The women said many illegal immigrants are not paying taxes, yet getting certain education and healthcare benefits.
Pinkard said her husband was forced to shutter his remodeling and painting business because he could not compete with cheap illegal immigrant labor.
"All of my male friends in their mid-40s, I have watched every one of them lose their businesses," Pinkard said. "It's just been devastating to all of us. We cannot compete with the rate that the builders are paying illegal immigrants, which is also degrading to the immigrants."
Pinkard said she was bothered to see the thousands of Hispanics fill DeKalb County streetsMonday. "We got tired of seeing the marches, we got tired of knowing these people are there illegally ... why wasn't somebody arresting anybody? They had 200 DeKalb County police officers there."
So far, only John Konop, a Republican running for Congress in the 6th District, is scheduled to speak at the womens' rally.
Walker said they intend to hand out fliers encouraging people to report illegal immigrants in the workplace.
"There's no work if the businesses won't hire them because they're getting penalized," Walker said. "If there's no jobs, the illegals will go home."

I know a lot of construction workers, citizens, that have been put out of work, they're everywhere.
Drove down to Bakersfield the other day past a huge new housing development... I'd bet anything at least 90% of the workers were illegal and another 9.9% greencarders.
Farmers are complaining they can't get enough workers for the fields, because all the green carders and illegals are looking for better paying (for them anyway) construction jobs.

The flip side of this cheap labor coin is, who will buy those $1.3 million 1600 square foot houses in 10 years? The cost of living has skyrocketted in recent times, but salaries are stagnant. And stagnant means retarding in economic terms. This "cheap labor now" attitude is wrecking the country.
Not to mention the whole "sovereign country" argument.
I'm going to an anti-amnesty rally tomorrow here in KC. I sure hope we get a sizeable turnout or it is curtains for our cause.

I am in Kerry Country and I Can not get a Contractor to call me back!
The A#1 Deal with the Architect is that I would NOT HIRE an ILLEGAL, he put the word out, sent the "plans" out
and nobody will bid on my addition!
You know what?
I am Way OKAY with that!
I don't want to live in this state anymore.
I will leave my kitchen as a POS.
It will still be a good investment for my family all around.
We will make a profit. We'll leave, and this state will become GayMexachusetts!

I sure hope we get a sizeable turnout or it is curtains for our cause.I don't think so. Rallies, although important to show interest in an issue, aren't really the deciding factor. Pressure on all our representatives is of equal importance.

Faxes, e-mails, phone calls, and letters that come from real live voters make a difference too. It's especially true when the campaign coffers start looking bare.

You know, the ANSWER communists (and move.on.org goons) are the same people who got this country all riled up in the 60's. We ended up with riots in the cities that burned out many. Eventually, the Nixon administration went after the most extreme revolutionaries, and they went to jail or left the country.
These are the same people. They are trying to spark a violent revolution. We don't have to go into the streets and play into their plan. I am getting to the point of really wanting the justice department to arrest some of their leaders and tone things down. I am very sure Bush knows all of this very well. He's never been fooled by them.

The same thing has been happening in Colorado.

This is a long-term thing. The Latinos will keep settling the southern US and eventually swing the elections. When whites dip below 50% the US will lose its European character and the whites will only be good for taxes, technology, as moral punching bags and keeping the economy running, as is the case in South Africa. The public square will be dominated by Latinos.

Especially handwritten letters. They take special note when someone from their area takes the time to write in their own hand and end it the old fashioned way.
Good for everyone starting to rally, no matter how many show up. I have a feeling these rallies will be FAR more respectful then the show the others have put on.
BTW, wouldn't hurt to put up those car flags, wear our colors, and do a little shopping tomorrow.

The Atlanta-Journal Constitution is one of the worst offenders as far as propaganda that I know of. I try never to read their biased writing. Back before anyone would talk of illegal immigration the AJC was one of the most energetic in trying to deflect the fact that the issue was even serious.
This whole article is an excellent example of technique #2 on the list on my homepage The Backstroke Technique. That is when the writer fills the article with little negative hooks and barbs to "pull the reader back" each time the subject of the article tries to make their case. The result is a bland, disappointing, and negative feeling towards the target of the article.
Here are a number of quotes:
Local residents who say they are motivated by the recent show of force among Hispanics throughout the nation
Right off the bat the writer says the residents "say" they are motivated by something, why not just say the residents "are" motivated? Because using "say" makes them sound slightly suspicious, what are they really motivated by?
"We have no organization," Walker said Friday.
The purpose of all this lobbying is to convince Congress to do its job. Anyone in government or business will see that there's no organization here and just stop reading. That's why this quote is prominent.
King, founder of the Dustin Inman Society an anti-illegal immigrant group has a far more organized network, although his most successful rally to date, held earlier this year, only drew about 75 people.
Thanks for all that information. Any congressional aide will want to know that. The organization that is "far more organized" in this field had a "most successful" rally with "only" 75 people. Thanks for the strategic portrait of your opponents. Nice to see the journalists are not taking sides.
King said he believes rallies around the nation by illegal immigrants and their allies, including a Monday rally in Atlanta that drew an estimated 40,000 people, have stirred Americans to action.
Immediately after telling us the Americans "only" had 75 people he helpfully informs us (and any congressional aides who happen to read the story) that Atlanta had 40,000 illegals protesting! All these comparisons of numbers, organizations, sizes of rallies, and degree of coordination among groups is unrelated to these ladies' rally, but it sure let's you know who the writer thinks is important, doesn't it?
So far, only John Konop, a Republican running for Congress in the 6th District, is scheduled to speak at the womens' rally.
There's the word "only" again. Used with the other imagery in this story you can see that the smallness and inadequacy of the pro-law side is constantly stressed. Why didn't they say "And a real live candidate for Congress will be joining the rally!!". For that matter why do they call it "the women's rally"? To make it sound like ladies having a tea party or something, diminishes the image and keeps the men away.
"There's no work if the businesses won't hire them because they're getting penalized," Walker said. "If there's no jobs, the illegals will go home."
This sentence has poor grammatical structure and is presented as misinformation. What she means is that IF the employers were being penalized, THEN there would be no work for illegal aliens. But they have her talking about that strategy between tenses and it sounds like she believes employers are already being penalized, when we all know they are not.
This whole "story" is just meant to suffocate, diminish, and slam the breaks on the side the slime ball media doesn't want to win this debate, the pro-law enforcement side.

The A#1 Deal with the Architect is that I would NOT HIRE an ILLEGAL, he put the word out, sent the "plans" out and nobody will bid on my addition! I had a bit of work done to the place last fall. I was going to throw the crew off if they weren't legal. They were legit and one was a veteran. I love living in fly-over country!

Counter-protesting this is an attractive idea, but I agree that it's not in our interests. I too would like to see the organizers arrested.
The US simply cannot afford to effectively annex north and south.
