Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad addresses a crowd in the town of Kashmar in Iran's northeastern province of Khorassan. Iran's hardline leadership branded the United States a "decaying power," brushing off Washington's call for strong UN Security Council action to stop the Islamic regime's controversial nuclear drive.(AFP)

With all this rhetoric, there can be no doubt that the 9th Century knuckledraggers understand that the flag they need to fear most is white and blue...without a trace of red.

"The United States is a decaying power. Don't be intimidated by their threats. They don't have the stamina to do anything," said the head of Iran's Guardian Council, a powerful political watchdog. Thank you, Democrats, for making us appear weak-willed and impotent!

A damn shame that folks like my ex's family have to live with such morons in charge of their country.
Heh, Mahmoud, nice to see that you have learned to "cut and paste" old Breznev speaches. We've heard it all before.
Whine about us being a decaying power, but we STILL have more firepower than your sorry a-s Mullahcracy and I still can buy more than falafel, lamb, and flimsy furniture whenever I do shopping. How you like Dem Apples.
I am tempted to post nude photos of a Persian American princess, but I want to offend Mahmoud, not the good American families on this site.

If I recall my history correctly Hitler, Tojo, Marx, Engels, Lenin, Stalin, Krucheav, Brezhnev, Castro, Che Guevara, well virtually every freely elected power-mad dog dropping that became a dictator all declared the US a decaying corrupt power that no longer had the will or ability to stand up to the rightful SUPERRACE.

"Today, thank God, the Iranian nation is a powerful one and we are going to have a dialogue with the world from a position of power...a few weaklings cannot stand against the Iranian people," I am reminded of Hitler's famous quote "Give me ten years and you won't recognize Germany anymore," which was ironically posted as a message by the allies on piles of rubble in defeated Germany.

Confident Iran brands US a 'decaying power'
Mahmoud better check with the NY Times, I believe they have copy writes on all those anti-American phrases.

They are emboldened by our press and the democrats. Bush's inability to sell his ideas doesn't help either; but most of all, our demonrats have emboldened our enemies.

For good or ill, the only thing likely to be decaying in the near future will be the radioactive fallout over Iran after some nukes are capped off by the U.S. to stop that nation's apocalyptic march toward nuclear war with the world.

Re AFP's headline: I don't think "confident" is the right word ... I was thinking "crazy"
To: NormsRevenge
Everyone thinks Iran is acting crazy but they are not. I think what they are doing is pretty shrewd, albiet calculated. With Iraq in turmoil and Saddam hanging on by a thread, Iran is set to be the reagional super power. Saudia Arabia has more money and Jordan is more stable, but with a nuclear bomb Iran will have the most military leverage.
But is that good enough to become the regional superpower. Not quite. You have to slap the giant and get away with it. That means hitting either the US or Isreal by proxy. The Iranian regime doesn't have to win the fight, just survive it and they will be huge winners in the middle east from a military and resolve standpoint.
Iran is probably betting that America does not have the gut check required to fight to a win. If I had to place money on that bet, I might side with the mullahs. If you look at the poll numbers on and media coverage of Iraq -a place with problems that we are clearly winning and making progress- day by day the US is acting more and more weakened.
Even conservatives are finding they don't have the stomach for a 3 year battle with a loss of 2000+ lives (which is very low by any historical standards). Sure we can do bombing runs, but I think Iran comes out the winner on that one. The regime survives with their nuclear plan delayed, but they slapped the giant and pretty much got away with it. Their day will come again.

HEY MAHMOUD AMADJIHAD!!!! This 'decaying power' went 250 miles behind enemy lines and decapitated a government in two weeks. That had never been done in military history bonehead. I think we should see if we could set a record when we go to Tehran.
IF we are decaying then Iran has decayed.
somebody deliver this man some mushroom pizzas. See if he gets the hint.
