How many squadrons of F-15E's are now active? I know SJ had 3 in the 1990's (334th, 335th, and 336th, plus 33rd training squadron), plus Lakenheath, Mountain Home.

I think the A10 is beautiful. Thanks for the picture.

Haha! "Alertness" is a good description!

I meant to include the word "balance" in the description. A beautiful balance to it.

From the ground, AJ told them where the friendlies were so the pilots could differentiate between friendly forces and insurgents.

Full afterburner at 500 ft? Over a civilian city at night?
Not something they'd been trained for, it's not in the books, and it's thoroughly illegal on 9 continents and over all Air Bases.
Gee.
Do ya think they'll get written up for breaking the NATOP's Manual that way?

Thanks for the ping!
Nothing like reading this GOOD NEWS with Maj. Glenn Miller's AAF Band blaring St. Louis Blues March! Yeah!

Whoa!
For anyone who hasn't checked it out, the image in #1 is a downsized version of this.

They may not be fast, but they sure are ugly.

I bet the terrorists have a new definition of "loud". I heard an A-6 fly over at about 1500 feet at Holden Beach NC and the sound moved you around.

That's an air show "treat"
Have the 4 coming over in formation, then climb so everybody is looking up. Then, have the 5th plane come in at low altitude on afterburner "sneaking up" on the crowd from behind them: sneaking at 100 dB that is.
