Coloradoans beware of bears also! Laws have restricted the hunting of bears several years ago and bear sightings and bears breaking into houses are on the increase.

The new citizens of Colorado...formerly of California, Mexico, etc...voted to ban the spring bear hunting season ( it had worked well since the 1800's ) and banned many of the standard bear hunting practices.
The forest service has also "vacated" many grazing permits. Thus the sheepherders and cowboys are not controlling the predators like bears, coyotes, mountain lions.
The population growth of the bears is huge and will grow much bigger every year. The breakin and mauling will be going up, too.

And the deer are really beginning to overpopulate up here. They're running around the roads like roaches and frequently getting hit between about November and March. That might add to the bear population and will add to the lion population rather quickly.

They did away with the Spring bear hunt in Colorado because too many lactating females were being killed and leaving cubs to starve to death.
