Official USAF statement:

The pilot ejected safely and is being treated at a local medical center.

A board of officers will investigate the accident.

Glad he's OK!!

The statement says that he crashed 2 miles SW of the base. Sounds like he was trying to get back to base and couldn't quite make it.
