WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Some call it "the browning of America." Others see it as an economic necessity. Hispanics have become the largest minority group in the United States and the target of anger in a national debate over immigration.

The country built and populated by immigrants is wrestling with ways to tighten border controls and weighing the future of an estimated 11 million, mostly Mexican, illegal immigrants.

Fresh protests on behalf of the immigrants are planned for Monday in 60 cities nationwide. Immigrant organizations are calling for a general strike on May 1 to show what would happen in the United States without immigrants, legal and illegal.

As the guy from CIS says, it's about power, and ultimately, the overthrow of the American people.

Just the small matter of 250 million of "the rest of us" kind of sticks a fork in this theory.

Today you march, tomorrow you vote?
While you demand I learn Spanish
Or you’ll yell racist and lunge for my throat

You demand rights and citizenship from me
While waving the large flag
Of the country your risked your life to flee

You say want what is your right
While I pay for your children’s schooling and births
And we watch as MS-13 and our police fight

You shout that you came and that you should stay
While my money pays for your food stamps
And you and your friends take my friends’ jobs away

My taxes rise to pay for your children born here
Their schooling, their births, every trip to the emergency room
And left to run wild gangs add to our fear

I say I can’t pay for everything you demand and you say I had “the race”
While the poor kid from Oklahoma can’t afford college
When the kid from Mexico gets into college and funding in his place

Break our laws with your hand out for more
For welfare, for anchor babies, and demanding of jobs
When ever more jobs leave our own shore

How can we be equal when we import poverty and destroy law and order?
How can we afford the burden that they and their children bring?
And ask those who are raped and murdered because we have an open border.

For the black guy who loses his job and the Canadian who waited his turn
And the Chinese told to learn Spanish and the Indians who earned their visas
If we give Mexican illegals amnesty, what is the lesson THEY learn?

You mean 53 million of the "rest of us". You forget, most of that 250 million either are too young to vote, too dumb to vote or too apathetic to vote, and the rest of those who do vote, look like this...

the Mexican constitution does not allow foreigners to participate in the political affairs of the country.

That ban applies to participation in demonstrations.

I really wish they'd get off of calling this a 'Mexican' issue. The issue is ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. While the fact that the bulk of illegals hail from Mexico should be a particular point of shame for Mexico, it is incidental to the actual issue of illegal immigration.

They don't need to vote. As long as we elect Congress people who represent aliens instead of us, they have political power.

So why do you suppose OUR elected officials listen to ILLEGAL ALIENS instead of their constituents? Maybe because employers of illegals demand it?

The only thing this highlights is that our Congress, the INS, and Administrations over a decade have deliberately let this develop into a full scale crisis.

I'd say what I think, but it wouldn't do any good.

Besides, I'm a lady and won't use that language.

As the rhetoric heats up between the Hispanic invaders and the citizens of the United States, one can't help but wonder how long it will be before the shooting war breaks out?

This is the mess our do-nothing, appeasement-oriented elected officials are creating by not responding to or respecting the will of the people.

We are being told by arrogant invaders that THEY are America and that THEY are the face and future of America. Coming "out of the shadows" will prove to be a huge mistake on their part. Most Americans are fed up with bi-lingual everything, higher taxes to pay for the burden these illegals place on every element of our social service structure, increased violence from the gangs and drug runners and the like.

Before this is over, Americans will take the law into their own hands (since the government that has the responsibility/obligation won't) and begin their own enforcement of our laws. The Minute Men are but one part of the equation. This is going to be a major episode that will significantly affect our future and our formerly friendly relations with Mexico.

And, I blame the politicians who have FAILED at every turn to adequately address this issue to the satisfaction of the taxpaying, voting American public.

What is an illegal immigrant?

You are either an immigrant or you are an illegal alien, you can not be both!

As another poster pointed out..."Can illegals vote"?

I thought not.

Have these marches crippled the economy? Assuming that these people do in fact work, I'd say their effect has been so little as not to even had a measurable detrimental effect on our economy.

Exactly my thoughts when I saw all the protesters. A perfect example of the failure of our Political leaders to so much as follow the oath of their respected office let alone do the job.

They all need to be replaced. It's time for a change.
