I agree with you to a point. Here's the point:
Sexual repression: Bad.
Sexual promiscuity: Worse.
As Aristotle recommended in the Nichomachean Ethics, when faced with opposite two vices, the mean is always best. But if you can't steer the exact middle, it's better to hew closer to the less destructive vice.
