Bunker Busters
New Scientist ^ | 14 July 2005 | David Hambling

Posted on 04/08/2006 10:50:29 AM PDT by OregonRancher

"Traditional "bunker busters" are streamlined bombs that rely on sheer weight to force their way through soil, rock or concrete. But the new design has a blunt nose that forces the earth ahead of it out to the sides, creating a cavity the bomb can easily slide through, allowing it to reach much deeper buried structures than conventional bunker busters."

New design. Hmmm. What about production? May we assume with the absence of mushroom clouds over Iran (from non-nuclear bunker busters, of course)they're not quite ready?

good graphic..

I am having trouble understanding how this description relates to it.

........But the new design has a blunt nose that forces the earth ahead of it out to the sides, creating a cavity the bomb can easily slide through....

Seems to me that this kind of information aids and abets the enemy in time of war.

Bunker busters are fine, but it doesn't guarantee that you'll kill the scientists and workers (some of them, not ALL of them). In order to stop production, you have to kill the brain (scientists and workers), not the body (the hardened targets themselves). FAE's (F uel A ir E xplosives) will do just that, with the power and kill zone of a nuclear weapon without the radiation. We do have the technology to pinpoint their locations, and eradicate them all. Then go in with conventional weapons (standard bombs) and reduce the reactors to ashes. Notice I said reactorS, if you think they have only one., then you are sadly mistaken. Nuclear weapons do not kill, the people with the brains to create, produce, and employ the weapons do. Instead of spending potentially millions of dollars on a BRAND NEW bomb, use the ones we already have stockpiled (I.E.- FAE's and conventional bombs)

It looks like in the Battle of Bunker Busters during OIF round 1 went to Saddam's German engineers. I hope the lessons are learned and we win round two with repeated knock out blows .... the best advice .... "REPEAT"....

I'm certain that this story is being tossed out there for the benefit of the Iranians.

What the OTM (Old Tired Media) leaks surely is treasonous, and they should be stood against a wall.

I think this is more along the lines of *psyops*, where they're hoping it will bring Iran to their senses and the bargaining table. I think we're way past that point, and will have to use this weapon, or something more terrible, before those murderous mad muslims unleash nuclear hell on this Infidel world.

Well, if they work, it just means that everything the rag heads have done is a waste of time.

The deeper the bunker and the more confined the area penetrated, will result in a much more lethal explosion and more destruction.

We also have E-Bombs that can be used to devastate the electrical infrastucture over a particular area. And although some might think that Iran has "hardened" their electrical infrastructure in critical areas (as the US military has), I now that they have not done enough. A few well placed E-bombs thrown in with the others will ruin their whole day (and maybe a century..).
