Dobbs: Senate bill Raises Serious Questions
CNN ^ | 4/6/06 | Lou Dobbs

Posted on 04/06/2006 7:32:49 PM PDT by Dr. Scarpetta

Ultimately, this Senate immigration deal appears to fail the first test: Border Security. Because as I've said, and as many others agree, without first securing our borders, not even the best intentions will result in resolution of our illegal alien crisis.

The test for effective reform is straightforward: Congress and the president cannot reform immigration if the federal government cannot control it, and the federal government cannot control immigration unless it first secures our borders and our ports.

Any legislation that fails to meet those tests will only worsen what is already a crisis.

What if Congress is underestimating the number of illegal aliens by half? A Bear Stearns study last year projects there are as many as 20 million illegal aliens living in the United States, depressing wages for U.S. citizens and draining local, state and federal budgets of much-needed funds for education, health care and social services.

Time to send a message--stay home on Election Day! And don't anyone dare give me that lame, "Well, you don't want to elect a Democrat" argument, because that is the very thing that got us into this insurmountable mess in the first place!!!

Lou Dobbs is one guy who "gets it" on illegal immigration and jobs offshoring.

I am going to find out just who is going to be opposing Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson (RINO, Tx) in the elections this November....(I did NOT vote for her in the primaries, what's the point?)on the either Independant ticket or whatever.....

Has Kay Bailey come out with her stance on this bill? I have written her office 3 times in the last year about illegal immigration but have yet to get an answer.

Depends.

If you are lucky enough to have a Senator like Sessions, or a Congressman like J.D., I'd say vote for those specific individuals. They've earned it.

The majority of Republicans, however, have not. And they do not deserve re-election. Right now I'm considering who's name to write in, since my choices deserve no rewards.

Lou Dobbs is a fool. He still hasn't figured it out that outsourcing IS GOOD. He is hung up on outsourcing.

I disagree. The time to vote is in the primaries. That's what we should be focusing on like no other.

I listened to Air America last night: we don't ever want that. It's the most vicious, anti-American, bile spewing garbage I've heard in ages. We don't ever want those people in control.

The time to fight is the primaries. We need to wipe these RINOS off the map, but a RINO is better than a Rat any day of the week.

She is a RINO....she will go along with Kennedy.

The fact that you written or called her office 3 times with NO answer should tell you everything that you need to know.

Just so you know.....I have called both of her offices....locally as well in D.C. and have basically been blown off.....much more than 3 times, to boot.

I wouldn't vote for her again, even if you were to hold a gun to the head of my dog.

Is that serious enough?

Ever think about being a Republican before Wednesday?

Tell me, Master Chief...what does that have to do with this discussion? Please don't tell me you think you have some kind of 'seniority' because you signed on FR before mirhamains (or myself, for that matter). This isn't the Nav.

Mirhamains, welcome to Free Republic.
