Mexicans. Asians. Sudanese. Blacks and whites. The list goes on.
The immigrant dollar stretches to feed the American economy.
Take it out, and many businesses and communities would not be the successes they are today.
That’s what America’s immigrants hope to prove Monday as they boycott spending and work for the day.
Here, the word is spreading.
Workers at Farmland Foods in Crete already are planning on taking the day off, said Vilma Hidalgo, who has worked at the plant for eight years.
On Wednesday, she attended a meeting of about 50 people at the Hispanic Community Center. Similar plans are taking place in meatpacking plants and factories throughout the state, she said.Those who wish to oppose anti-immigrant legislation being debated in Congress, as well as demonstrate the power of Nebraska immigrants, are encouraged to attend a peaceful march and rally Monday.
Supporters are asked to gather prior to 10 a.m. at Cooper Park, South Sixth and D streets, to march to the State Capitol for a rally.
Afterward, supporters will march to the Federal Building, 100 Centennial Mall North. Supporters are encouraged to wear white to symbolize peace.
"anti-immigrant legislation"....missing that operative word ILLEGAL.
Remember, these are the "rallys" that Americans can't/won't attend.
What a load of crapola!!! This people risked their lives to leave their craphole of a country to come here, but all they want to do is turn America into a new version of the craphole they left. They don't want to become part of us, they don't want to help move America forward, they just want to take our jobs and our money rather than force the arrogant Vicente Fox to create new industries and opportunities for them in Mexico.
Well, we should not allow Mexico's problems to be visited on us. Boot their butts out and tell'em they can come back through the front door when they are ready to commit to being AMERICAN citizens who promote AMERICAN values and speak ENGLISH!!!!
The backlash they are experiencing is of their own making. They deservew the consequences - as do those in the Congress trying to buy their (illegal) votes!!!
Monday must be target day.
Just heard there's a rally planned for Washington on Monday as well. The organizers are claiming 100,000 expected.

When they boycott by not spending the rest of us should spend more to offset their politics.
The Immigrants are planning a massive protest on May 1st. The Antiwar croud are also planning a massive antiwar/pro illegal immigration protest in NYC on Apr 29th
Actually, 20 billion went to feed Mexico's economy last year.
