Italian: Authorities Thwart Terror Attacks( Prophet Muhammad in Hell, being devoured by demons)

ROME (AP) - Italian authorities have thwarted planned terrorist attacks against a church in Bologna and Milan's subway, the interior minister said Thursday.

"There was a terrorist project that was to be carried out in our country and the monitoring and prevention action of our forces allowed us to thwart it," Interior Minister Giuseppe Pisanu told news agency ANSA. His office confirmed the comments.

Pisanu, who spoke at a political rally in Sardinia, said the plot involved seven people. Three people have been expelled from Italy, two have been arrested, one was under surveillance and one was at large, ANSA reported.

Pisanu's office did not immediately confirm the details on the alleged plotters.

The Bologna basilica had been among the targets. It contains a 15-century fresco that Muslim groups have interpreted as insulting to Islam, because it depicts Islam's Prophet Muhammad in Hell, being devoured by demons.

This picture is of an early Renaissance fresco in Bologna's Church of San Petronio, created by Giovanni da Modena and depicting Mohammed being tortured in Hell.

The fresco is in an inaccessible part of the church and is now only visible at an angle from a distance; this old black-and-white image is one of the few official photos ever taken that shows a straight frontal view of the figures.

Perhaps if some are so inclined to worry about the soul of such a prophet, they can appeal to the Catholic Sacraments to intercede for those suffering in the place of the dead?

It's better to reveal the truth of a past crime quickly and sorrowfully than to try to cover up a shame and this bring more shame upon the situation. Some have tried to erase the evidence of horror by burning away the bodies of the murdered, but that was not enough to hide the Holocaust and it became more barbaric than what it was.

Similarly, there are some in the Middle East that try to deny Israelite captivity as stated in the Bible. Now there are some that want to destroy ALL of the pre-Christian and pre-Muslim culture of Egypt that would show evidence of Biblical historical accuracy. I suppose the more such a wound festers with a demon irritating the harm already done, the closer to some eve of discovery of a meaningful and significant find. I suppose, instead, that the devil cannot rest and hide like a dormant virus (or even for its Judgment sake, stop attacking mankind), but is urged by its hunger to devour so that our present age is likened to birth pains.

Don't know about that.
But I think I recall that some university professor in Pakistan was
on trial for having said that The Prophet actually did have pubic hair.

I guess it's some sort of article of faith that The Prophet didn't
have pubic hair. And this was some sort of sign of perfection.

I don't know how to explain this sort of stuff...it's an Islam thang.
