I think it's true, mo1. It would be pretty hard even for Chris to manufacture that phone call.
Of all people to break the news to, Chris Matthews! Nope, Ill wait for the presser with Tom saying he is bowing out..

If sinkspur says he heard this, I believe it. The questions are, was Matthews messing with us, was someone messing with Matthews, was DeLay messing with Matthews, or is it true?
What strikes me as odd is why would Delay contact Chris Matthews to break this.
I think I will wait and see how this plays out.

Why on God's green Earth would he break the news to Chris Matthews of all people?
cnn announced it too. They said 2 congressional republicans told them that Delay is on the phone right now with his big donors telling them about his decision to quit.
He should have done this 3 months ago. Now Nick Lampson will win the seat.
Sounds like that is or was the reason Stockman filed as an Indy. Now he needs the signatures to get on the ballot.
Stockman took out Jack Brooks in '94 and Lampson who will be his dem opponent if he gets on the ballot defeated Stockman in '96 and remained until he was redistricted out in '04.

I am NOT doubting sink at all.
I am questioning Matthews, despite thinking that even Matthews wouldn't knowingly make a complete ass out of himself by announcing BOGUS information.

And I did not mean to imply anything. I'm just trying to narrow down a kind of analytical model as to how many ways this could be fake, or if it is true.
