FORMER heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson visited Mao Zedong's mausoleum in a token of respect to add to the Mao tattoo on his arm and his personal book collection of the father of Chinese communism.
A long-time admirer, Tyson confessed to feelings of inadequacy when gazing upon Mao's remains on Saturday.
"I felt really insignificant next to the remains of Chairman Mao," the China Daily on Monday quoted Tyson as telling the Beijing News, adding that it was a great honour to visit the memorial hall.
Tyson bought several books on Mao before shouting "I love you!" to Chinese onlookers as he left the mausoleum.
The boxer says his special interest stems from reading Mao's selected works while serving a prison sentence for rape in the 1990s.
Tyson's Beijing pilgrimage followed a visit to Shanghai to promote a new night club.
"I felt really insignificant next to the remains of Chairman Mao,"
LOL
Love Tyson. I love the man.
(No fan of Mao, however.)
Mike should feel insignificant.. only bites years... Mao murdered, what, at least 50 million people?
Believe it, you are!
"I felt really insignificant next to the remains of Chairman Mao,"
look at it on the bright side Mikey.. at least you bit off a couple of ears.. something Mao surely did not himself do.
Here in the U.S. he lived the American dream, becoming heavyweight champion of the world and pocketing tens of millions of dollars in the process. But with liberty comes responsibility, and the immature Tyson just couldn't handle the latter.
Unfortunately I think about a third of Americans think this is a great.
This guy has been punched too many times.
I don't think the punches have anything to do with it.
What do you love about him? His elbowing? Arm twists? Head butts? Or is it the ear biting? It couldn't be his boxing. He's been getting his butt whopped by second-stringers for 15 years. Did you see the McBride fight? The man was laughing at Tyson, took Tyson's best punches and didn't even bother to cover up or shake it off.
So this man converted to Islam and fell in love with Communists while he was in prison.
Great.
Might as well go visit Lenin next... I'm sure he'll get a kick out of that.
There's a recently published and highly acclaimed book out (Mao:The Unknown Story by Chang & Halliday) which claims that he was directly and indirectly responsible for about 70 million deaths. Tyson's a nice guy but let's face it -- he's taken too many blows on the scull!

They tell you he's a mummy - don't you make that bright mistake:
I tell you - he's a dummy; aye, a fiction and a fake.
This eye beheld the bloody bomb that bashed him on the bean.
I heard the crash, I saw the flash, yet . . . there he lies serene.
And by the roar that rocked the Tomb I ask: how could that be?
But if you doubt that deed of doom, just go yourself and see.
You think I'm mad, or drunk, or both . . . Well, I don't care a damn:
I tell you this: their Lenin is a waxen, show-case SHAM.
Such was the yarn he handed me,
Down there in Casey's Bar,
That Rooshun bug with the scrambled mug
From the land of the Commissar.
It may be true, I leave it you
To figger out how far.

Confirms that Tyson is every bit as stupid as he looks and acts.
Hey Mike?
What if Mao had killed millions of blacks, instead of Chinese in his ill-fated "Great Leap Forward"?
You would still be insignificant, true enough.
LOL
