Hill conservatives warn Bush of amnesty anger
THE WASHINGTON TIMES ^ | By Charles Hurt

Posted on 04/02/2006 12:48:06 AM PST by Rick_Michael

House conservatives yesterday issued a dire warning to President Bush and Republican leadership that they will pay a devastating political price if they proceed with a guest-worker program or anything resembling amnesty for illegal aliens before securing the borders and enforcing existing immigration laws.

Nominate real conservatives!

I realize we make comprimises on certain things, but we end-up paying for it latter. I'd rather not have McCain nominated, even if that means the other real conservative doesn't win. Those that comprimise the important issues aren't worthy of representing us, as they damage us far too much.

With friends like this, who needs....

By no veto's Bush has let the Senate run wild! Homeland Security, Campaign finance, tieing his hands on the war, spending, judges, energy independence. The Senate is killing this Country.

I'm curious if the dems will pay for this as I'm sure many of their constituents are starting to look at the situation as dire. I'm sure this next mid-term election will focus on this.

They feel heat alright, but its to little, to late. This should have started back in Kiltons years. Mexico will not take these people back. Our country does not have the guts to dump them on a shore somewhere. Nothing will happen.

When I called FEMA after my roof was torn off, and instructions were given in Spanish and English, I knew Mexico had won the war.

When we kill Iran, this will be forgotten.

Illegal immigration seems to be an issue with a very clear "critical mass" of public awareness - above which it's an extremely motivating issue for Republicans, below which it can be effectively demagogued by accusations of "racist!" by Democrats.

Look at what happened to Pete Wilson. On the other hand, the various propositions in the people's republic of California limiting imigrant abuses were *overwhelmingly* approved by voters, even though then struck down by leftist judges.

The communist left is doing conservatives, and especially Republicans, a (huge) favor with their jingoist, foreign-flag waving in your face anger and anarchy. The longer the "reconquistas" drive the agenda, the quicker the American people will swing en mass, against their Che Guevera type socialist mob nitwit mentality.

The Minutemen need a lot of support, right now.

IMHO, this would be a huge boon to Republicans if GWB weren't hellbent on his closet-amnesty 'guest worker' policy. I don't understand why conservatives would even care about the rabble protesters. It's not as if anyone who would join in or sympathize with that might vote conservative anyhow.

"We do not need more people from foreign countries coming in taking the jobs of Americans and bidding down our wages. We can do those jobs, even in the fields," Mr. Rohrabacher said...

As for who might be willing to take up the hard labor many illegal aliens now perform on U.S. farms, Mr. Rohrabacher had a suggestion. "The millions of young men who are prisoners around our country can pick the fruits and vegetables," he said. "I say let the prisoners pick the fruits."

We don't need immigrants bidding down our wages in the fields...we will have prisoners do the picking? And the cogent arguments out of Washington continue.

trust me...this should have been taken care of even before Clinton...I watched illegals stream across the San Diego border back in 1985.

Here's the boilerplate:

It is my opinion that we are already in WWIV ( WWIII being the Cold War ) and there are two, somewhat interlocking elements to it:

Islam, a Religion of Peace®? ( links, blogs, quips, quotes, aggravating pictures ) is located here- click the Pic, and scroll backwards:

"Thunder on the Border," click the picture:

( PS- my personal prediction? That picture will become one of the most widely distributed, and most hated, pictures on the internet. The Illegal lobby could not have done more damage to themselves with that "Mexican Flag Superior, America in Distress" photograph if they had tried... )

Now, here's some of the "why" behind part of it:

My wife- the "former Democrat"-- finally "got" why unrestricted, illegal immigration is bad- when she saw what it did in our neighborhood, to the value of our house. Try to sell your home when 2 doors down the duplex has a yard full of cars ( and trucks, the newest & gaudiest ), three satellite dishes, and 15 or so people living in a space meant for four?

Good luck.

This is an "Issue" that cuts across party lines, demographics, and everything else.

In addition, whatever the arguable social costs are ( and there are many, despite what apologists for Illegal Aliens claim-- you simply cannot ignore the vast breech it causes in National Security when we are engaged in the fourth world war.

Months ago, Roger Hedgecock reported that besides the usual Arabic detritus being found along our borders by Homeland Security, they were finding Chinese trash as well.

WTH is coming over our borders?

In case anyone does not know what the existing immigration laws are, read this. Something I posted yesterday:
Provisions:

Established measures to control U.S. borders, protect legal workers through worksite enforcement, and remove criminal and other deportable aliens:

Increased border personnel, equipment, and technology as well as enforcement personnel at land and air ports of entry; Authorized improvements in barriers along the Southwest border; Increased anti-smuggling authority and penalties for alien smuggling; Increased penalties for illegal entry, passport and visa fraud, and failure to depart; Increased INS investigators for worksite enforcement, alien smuggling, and visa overstayers; Established three voluntary pilot programs to confirm the employment eligibility of workers and reduced the number and types of documents that may be presented to employers for identity and eligibility to work; Broadly reformed exclusion and deportation procedures, including consolidation into a single removal process as well as the institution of expedited removal to speed deportation and alien exclusion through more stringent grounds of admissibility; Increased detention space for criminal and other deportable aliens; Instituted 3- and 10-year bars to admissibility for aliens seeking to reenter after having been unlawfully present in the United States; Barred re-entry of individuals who renounced their U.S. citizenship in order to avoid U.S. tax obligations.

Placed added restrictions on benefits for aliens:

Provided for a pilot program on limiting issuance of driver's licenses to illegal aliens; Declared aliens not lawfully present ineligible for Social Security benefits; Established procedures for requiring proof of citizenship for Federal public benefits

I know Roger and he is not an alarmist.

He checks his facts before he reports.

Smuggling of Chinese labor has been going on for years. The sail into Mexican ports and then make their way to the US.

Trouble is people aren;t worked up enough to elect US Congress persons in border states and in border districts who are willing to forcefully pass tough immigration legislation.

I am a native San Diegan and you'd think ALL of SD's Congresscritters would be strong advocates of tough immigration legislation. NOT so. We have Susan Davis (D) and Bob Filner (D) in two of the districts; and the former Duke Cunninghma (R) and Duncan Hunter (R) in the other two districts.

I used to fish on a bass lake right on the border when i was stationed in San Diego back in 1985.... it was amusing to watch the illegals duck and weave through the bushes and scatter when the green trucks would show up...funny though...these were the REALLY dark skinned indians...not really mexicans per se...not sure where they were from...poor looking people though...i look back now and realize i could have been in a little danger but i was young then and just laughed about it.
