Wasn't Yassir Arafat a nephew of this mufti? If I'm not mistaken, I believe he was.
... and his mother, Hamida, was a cousin of the Grand Mufti. Rahman Abdul Rauf al-Qudwa al-Husseini was born in Cairo in 1929 and grew up in the Gaza strip. Due to internal Arab strife, his father Abdul Rauf al-Qudwa was forced to flee Gaza where the family took refuge in Egypt. He only became "Yasser Arafat" in 1951, upon enrollment in the University of Cairo, in order to conceal his true identity.
