Introduction

“This bill we sign today is not a revolutionary bill. It does not affect the lives of millions. It will not restructure the shape of our daily lives.” So said President Lyndon Johnson at the signing of the Hart-Celler Immigration Bill thirty years ago next month, on Oct. 3, 1965. The legislation, which phased out the national origins quota system first instituted in 1921, created the foundation of today's immigration law. And, contrary to the president's assertions, it inaugurated a new era of mass immigration which has affected the lives of millions.

This is a must read - Ted Kennedy is still trying to fix the Hart-Celler Act which he pushed in the 1960's - it was a disaster then and the Kennedy/McCain bill a mirror of the Hart-Celler Act, is a disaster now.

This whole bill should be in the Toilet. There is a mad rush to the border right now to get here. If there here they will get to stay. CLOSE THE DAMN BORDER FIRST.

It isn't immigration. It's invasion. This whitewashing is ridiculous...nobody believes they're 'our neighbors'. That's an insult to our intelligence. They're depressing wages, taking jobs Americans do want, and costing us billions in welfare/education/medical. One third are on welfare...busy having that anchor baby.

They don't want to go home. They want affirmative action for illegals. Plus, Fox thinks the US should 'invest' in rebuilding Mexico's infrastructure. This is doublespeak for rebuild Mexico from top to bottom, pay for it, tell Mexico how to run a modern country, etc.. Essentially, the same thing the Palestinians want from the US. So hold onto your wallet.

Rush this afternoon -- played a medley of McCain clips -- essentially poking fun at the senator from Arizona, who doesn't seem to have aroused much admiration from Rush.
