CANCUN, Mexico (CNN) -- We're reporting live this week from Cancun, where the leaders of the United States, Mexico and Canada are meeting in a trilateral summit.
And despite the contentious debate raging in the U.S. Senate over illegal immigration and the guest-worker program, this summit has a remarkably modest agenda.
U.S. President George Bush, Mexican President Vicente Fox and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper will only try to advance the discussion among the three countries on economic integration, free trade, border and port security, and, yes, illegal immigration.
.........
The United States is challenged as never before in the global war on radical Islamist terror. And yet, our borders and ports remain insecure four and a half years after the 9/11 attacks. Our lack of border and port security is nothing less than a failure of the U.S. government and its policies. While we spend hundreds of billions of dollars fighting the war in Iraq, we spend next to nothing to protect our own borders.
President Bush, President Fox and Prime Minister Harper will discuss border security in terms of the perimeter of our three nations -- regional security perimeter, if you will. Such a concept, in my opinion, has no merit whatsoever while the United States cannot defend its own borders.

I really need to start watching Lou Dobbs. Yeah, me too.
I wish he was on opposite O'Reilly. I'd love to see how it would affect O'Reilly's ratings.

The reason why is that Mexico is especially nasty in the enforcement of its own border. Why is it OK for Mexico to secure its border but not the US?

"Taxation without representation."
Thanks for the reminder. We pay the taxes, the illegals get the benefits!

The professional criminal class has been defying the voters since 2000.
We thought we voted for less government and less spending, we were smoking crack.
We thought we voted for stronger defense, we got it after 9/11 but we are afraid to truly squeeze rogue nations.
We thought we were voting for less immorality, well gay marriage and unhindered abortion still seem to be around.
Who are we talking about again? Conservative majorities and a conservative president, naw it must not be real..........

This is a bald-faced lie, but, then Dobbs is into red meat for his adoring sycophants.

We thought we were voting for less immorality, well gay marriage and unhindered abortion still seem to be around. LOL!! Gay marriage is legal in one state!, and there are more restrictions on abortion in more states now than when Bush was inaugurated.

Well, we didn't nuke Mecca, as Tancredo wanted, but 50 million Muslims freed from tyranny is a pretty good use of the military.

No disagreement with me. I support a guest worker program and some sort of compromise to deal with illegals.
Otherwise I support building the wall for security purposes.
