Hugo Chavez wants your vote
Looking for something to be alarmed about? Forget Dubai. Try Venezuelas potential takeover of the U.S. voting apparatus. A secretive, intransparent company called Smartmatic thats known to have ties to the Venezuelan government, has just bought a U.S. voting machine company called Sequoia. And the deal has gotten no scrutiny from federal regulators, who cite outdated criteria for national military security as their only watchpoint.
Thats right, Venezuela, a country that holds the dirtiest, filthiest most intransparent and fraudulent elections in the hemisphere, elections that match those of Zimbabwe or Belarus, has just got its hands on a U.S. electronic voting company and now might be in charge with the outcome of your vote. There is not one good thing about this deal. Aleksander Boyd at VCrisis has done an extraordinary job of ferreting the first reports of this information out here. And the Miami Herald has a spectacular editorial.

Mora is an extremely credible reporter. I'd take this seriously and try to stop it..

It is well known that the last Ven. election, many of the voting machines were rigged. Many machines in the anti-Chavez territories were capped at the same exact vote total, something like 3226? votes. The odds of this happening by pure chance was astronomical.

You answered my question. It was going to be who is Mora?

Go to the link in the Miami Herald. They are more reputable and the article by Brand has all the info without the snide remarks about Venezuela and Carter [not that I do not think snidely about President Carter :-]. That is the article I am forwarding to my fence sitting friends.
To: Jo Nuvark
I'm shocked! Shocked! Venezuela has no interest in who might win an American election. No way. Not with Hu'gore' 'Chad'vez in charge.

I will take this "extremely credible reporter" with a grain of salt until he stops using nonsense words like "intransparent"---what does that mean, "opaque", or
"Concealed"?? It reads like a bad Babelfish translation.

I admit I've never seen that word before, but it is a word and it means cloudy.
http://www.webster-dictionary.net/definition/cloudy Having said that I find it tiresome to so often see a good piece with someone nitpicking at things like a spelling error or a typo. Bloggers work for free and under time pressure and generally make less errors than I see everyday in major papers with lots of editors and checkers.

So far we still have the switches and lever voting machines. My husband just said that Microsoft has voting software. He thought this company has lots of competition.
