Yeah, the issue of "can you afford to do it?" would be a good question. The concept of taking a page out of the adversary's playbook is intriguing if it could be done without yourself becoming just another public burden. Alternately, it could be done on a "rotating drop-out" basis.

Back when Evita Clinton was working on her health care plan, word was sent out that fully 25% of America's doctors could afford to retire if she started up that socialized crap.

That, among other things, caused the subject to be dropped.

This economy runs on people like you and me buying stuff we don't really need. If a significant percentage started really cutting back on spending and reduce work hours also, I think it would have an effect.
