The only way an amnesty in the House could pass is with democrat support. You're right, never say never but I have confidence that the conservatives won't let that happen, they've been fighting too long and hard to throw in the towel now to Ted Kennedy and the other liberal lowlifes in the Senate.

Poppy Bush, Slick Willie and Junior Bush.

Exactly, Reagan made an honest attempt to bring it under control and those who came after him did not and will not follow through.

Are you following this thread? Reagan gave amnesty to the 2.5 million illegals who where here in 1986. A one time only deal! There were also serious employer enforcement provisions of the IRCA of 1986 that were undermined by Ted Kennedy and other Democrats. Illegal immigration is a problem that escalated out of control from the early 1990`s through today. Upwards of 5-6 million illegals may have come here since Bush43 took office.

"Then throw in the towel and let the rest of us pick up your slack."

Fine with me if you want to waste your time and energy. You keep voting, I'll buy weapons.

He's blathered on and on about how he's against amnesty (as he defines it). Might be interesting to see how he spins signing it (of course he'd sign it - The veto remark was sarcasm).

He'll sign it with a big smile on his face then proceed to do what's he's been doing when it comes to enforcement... nothing.

Right on, onyx.

I refuse to hand over my Country and give up MY own American Dream for a bunch of Illegals who want to ride on my coat tails, and reap the benefits we've paid into and worked so hard to earn, ourselves...

We've just begun the fight..

LaRaza can bite me...

Yes, I'm following the thread.

I followed it well enough to note you left off a certain President you admire, and now you justify the gift of amnesty because it is a part of his legacy. All in an attempt to slam everyone BUT one.

Guess what? Supposedly THIS President wants enforcement of the borders as well. Amnesty plus enforcement = similiar to Reagan's plan. Guess what? We still have the same Democrats and RINO's that made amnesty possible during Reagan's administration working to make this doable now.

I don't particularly care how you justify it. It was wrong when Reagan did it, it is wrong for Bush to call for it. It was wrong for 41 and Clinton not to enforce border control, it was wrong for Carter not to do so. It was wrong of every politician that has failed this issue and there is NO justification nor saving grace for not doing so.

I WILL grant that Reagan's ENFORCEMENT puts him a step above others, but he STILL signed allowing amnesty and I am NOT naive. He knew how washington D.C. worked. He KNEW it was not a one time deal when he did it. Maybe he hoped it would be, I don't know, but I don't believe Reagan was a stupid man. It was only a question of timing as to when the next amnesty would be proposed.

IF you expect me not to point out a deliberate omission on your part, forget it. I feel like pointing out the failures of every politician on this issue today. Especially as I see another country's flags being waved in my face in demands my OWN country bow down to them.

We have already lost the fight. With up to 20 mil illegals already here, the costs of social services through the roof (funded by taxpaying citizens), the illegals marching and rioting all over the country.....and the same day they pass the McKennedy amnesty? We have already lost.

Democrat/Republican doesn't seem to matter. We have already been told we don't matter. They care more for illegals than they do for citizens.

Bush made me gag today. This whole thing makes me physically ill.

And the rules on this guest worker program won't be enforced either. Where are the politicians with their talk of "disenfranchisement" now? Every American citizen is being disenfranchised by this. Why should we pay taxes? All those Mexican flags...these people aren't guest workers, they aren't immigrants. They're invaders. Why should anybody want to serve in a military of gov't that won't even defend its sovereignty?

I have to stay hopeful, or I'll go nuts.

To my dismay, I can't stand to look at Bush these days. My disappointment in him is beyond words.

We just paid our state and federal taxes.

Now we have State property tax, which includes over a thousand in School taxes. Our kids are grown and we sent them to private school here anyway..

Now, I can help educate the Illegals in Arkansas..oh joy, joy..

It won't do any good, but it would be fun for Arizonans to write McCain over and over and tell him to reject the Kennedy-McCain amnesty. Of course he never listens to those from his own state and most people just don't pay attention hoping someone else will do something about it. So they vote for him no matter what he does.

No you're not.

>>>>I followed it well enough to note you left off a certain President you admire, and now you justify the gift of amnesty because it is a part of his legacy. All in an attempt to slam everyone BUT one.

If you had been paying attention, you would have seen my remarks about Reagan signing the 86 amnesty.

#24: "Same mistake that was made 20 years ago, is being made again."

#36: "While Reagan’s 1986 immigration reforms can at least be called rational, they were a failure."

#63: "Reagan gave amnesty to the 2.5 million illegals who where here in 1986."

What do you want me to post? I'm not going to trash Reagan using political hindsight. Truth is, the 1986 amnesty was wrong because the employer sanction provisions weren't enforced. Period.

>>>>IF you expect me not to point out a deliberate omission on your part, forget it.

I don't see any omission on my part.

And the rules on this guest worker program won't be enforced either.

It'll be a free-for-all like it is now except it will all be legal and we'll get to pay for it. These politicians are nuts.

Ok, folks! What do we want to do about this? Do we just say, "It's too bad we lost our country?" or do we do something? That's the thing about FreeRepublic. I have seen how organized this group can be. I have seen how we can make a difference together. On the other hand, this isn't just a Conservative issue. There are many Liberals that are fed up with this too. Maybe it's time everyone got together to do something. Just where do we start?

To the open borders lobby who think they are winning the war, We should reply, "We have not yet begun to fight!"
-------

On September 23, 1779, John Paul Jones fought one of the most famous naval engagements in Naval History. Jones struggled with the Royal Navy's 44-gun frigate HMS Serapis, and while his own ship was burning and sinking Jones rejected the British demand for surrender with the immortal words, “I have not yet begun to fight!” About three hours later, HMS Serapis surrendered and Jones assumed command of the ship.
