The first thing I wondered was shy an 11 year old girl was walking home alone, at any time of the day. This answers the question. Mom was high on crack when she should have been taking care of her daughter. I propose, had it not been for her mom's drug problem, Carlie would still be among us.

Do you know she was high on crack?
Or are you guessing?

No matter the time or day she was taken, one still only had to look at her home life to know it wasn't a great life. I have very little sympathy for any of the adults that were in the child's life.

That's ludicrous. Whatever was going on at home had nothing to do with a girl being abducted from a public place by a monster. Many girls could have been in that place at that time, irrespective of what might have been going on at home.

If not for the monster, Carlie would still be among us. It really is that simple.
