Freedom is never free, it always has to be fought for. Our own country hwas founded on civil war when we threw the Brits out of power.

That (Detroit) was more or less me being smug.

Look at the real numbers at the CIA website I gave you.

Without a war being waged on our land, we still have 12 times the death that the Iraqis have. (Or even claim to have)

Dear Javilina

The number of folks killed in Detroit or Washington DC IS per capita a larger number.

Do the Math.

End result, it is safer to be in IRAQ or AFGANISTAN than it is to be in Detroit, Washington DC or Los Angles and a heck of lot safer than Tijuana.

Iraq does not have civil war, yet. But Iraq needs to lock down its borders. Every day more terrorists enter the country from Iran, Syria and Saudi Arabia. Iraq's borders are wide open. IED bombs are coming from Iran. Foreign fighters and covert operatives kill more and more innocent people every day. Iraq is being invaded by a rag tag army of terrorists. Invasion is not civil war. Sunnis, Shiites and Kurds must band together to stop this invasion. Otherwise Iraq may be mired in a full blown civil war by the end of this year. If not sooner.

BTW- the debunking doesn't involve "population."

Seeings as Iraq has 25 million (plus our 130,000 odd military personel... the only ones mentioned in that link.)

And

Detroit has roughly 1 million people...

400+ deaths in one year (2004) in Detroit. 1/5 the US deaths in Iraq to DATE.

But wait, I seem to recall using this little keyword-

"living"

As in, a resident of.

25 million people compared to 1 million.

Not saying I can prove my casual statement, but your little response does little to debunk it.

Went to the link, and it didn't do the math.

The "Wheel" kills hundreds of thousands annually, what Headlines do you see from the Slimes?

Mosquitoes kill hundreds of thousands annually, where is the outrage and the call to bring back DDT?

Hell, San Francisco Bath Houses kill more annually than the War in Iraq does (we just won't get an accurate count for a few years).

No, the math you have given is the math based on deaths per day, not per person.

At a rate of (1.04) deaths per day in Iraq and (1) deaths per day in Detroit, Detroit will die long before Iraq even has enough to be considered a genocide.

Of course, that's only using the incomplete numbers provided that only count the (gun) murders compared to the US soldier deaths.

But wait, as was stated... the soldiers aren't "living" in Iraq. Iraqis live there!

Now... lets try the math with the numbers you find on deaths per person in Iraq vs Detroit (they don't even have to be per resident, per person will do)

I'm going to stick with what was presented, as that is the basis of my initial arguement-

Having a daily death toll of 50 people in a population of 25 million is just not as devestating as 30 per day in a population of 1 million.

(I have adjusted for Iraq's newest waves of the past few months and compared them to a typical summer your source quoted. I feel this is fair, given that we are talking about a fresh wave of violence.)

He may have been doing as I was doing: using the source at hand to get his numbers.

It says the numbers right on the article.

You missed the point!

It isn't a matter of being "an error in my math"

I'm showing you that your source has omitted information!

It's from Google for God's sake!

VERIFY YOUR SOURCE!

Then go to bed :)

He is WRONG, the definition of a civil war is:
A war between factions of the same country; there are five criteria for international recognition of this status: the contestants must control territory, have a functioning government, enjoy some foreign recognition, have identifiable regular armed forces, and engage in major military operations.

Iraq does not meet this criteria.

The Left has been market-testing this language for awhile now.

Our side needs some better communicators out front to counter it.

It was helpful for the Vice-President to be on this morning.

He did a good job of fighting this.
