They, the dems, want to raise taxes, rather than cut spending somewhere else to pay for it. The "purpose" of the amendment talks about "cutting corporate loopholes", but their is no language in the amendment which specifies what those might be, only a list of line items in the FY 07 budget to be increased.
I thank the Good Lord every day that Bush & Cheney are in charge of national security at this critical time in history, and that crazed AlGore and traitorous Kerry will not make the crucial decisions about how we deal with Iran and North Korea.
And how are 'our' Republicans any different from those Democrats, remind me again?
Maybe paying more for veterans will break the budget?
Or perhaps vets have to sacrifice more since 9/11?
Then it might be people who stayed out of service would have to pay a tax increase?
They want to cut taxes, and raise revenue. Just like Ronald Reagan. Reagan didn't cut domestic spending either, it increased just as it did under other Presidents, part of the price he had to pay working with a 'Rat Congress to get his military build up. But he did cut taxes, and revenues did increase.
It needs to be people who stayed out of the service taking a benefit cut. They might actually go to work then, and leave the money available for the military and the vets. The military is one of those few things spelled out in the Constitution as within the powers of Congress, and thus of the federal government. Welfare, both corporate and individual, and assistance to the elderly are not in there. (Unless they are elderly vets or post office workers, or civil servants from those few departments that are Constitutionally approved, like DoD civilians, treasury employees, etc)
