A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Donkeys work tirelessly to keep losing, studies show

by JohnHuang2

After a couple of weeks of pretending to care about national security, Democrats -- now that the Dubai ports deal is dead and they can't use that phony issue to impersonate real Americans -- are back to their wonderful old treasonous ways.
After the Dubai ports deal, which "Dumbya" cleverly used to divert attention from the Katrina video, which Chimpy used to divert attention from Cheney's hunting accident, which Cheney used to divert attention from the NSA spy "scandal," we're back to the NSA spy "scandal" again.
"A liberal Democrat and potential White House contender" -- Sen. Russ Feingold -- "is proposing censuring President Bush for authorizing domestic eavesdropping, saying the White House misled Americans about its legality," the AP reports.
According to libbies, a phone call by al-Qaeda from Islamabad to New York is a "domestic" call. An airline flight from Paris to New York is a "domestic" flight, following the tenets of this piercing logic. A call from the Cylons on planet New Caprica to New Jersey is domestic. So, NSA monitoring a call by bin Laden from Tehran to his home-boys in New York is called "domestic" spying and an invasion of privacy. Libbies say they want bin Laden nabbed -- just don't snoop on him.
Russ Feingold took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, against all enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC. DOMESTIC? Like in DOMESTIC eavesdropping? I call for Feingold's immediate censure.
The Wisconsin clown -- pandering to his party's moron base -- voted against the Patriot Act right after the 9/11 attacks. He was the only senator to do so. His censure proposal should be a real winner, too.
The censure proposal accuses Bush of violating the 1978 FISA law. Bush does this by pursuing something called Article II of the Constitution. Says something there about him being Commander-in-Chief. Feingold's proposal reads, "Resolved, that the United States Senate does hereby censure George W. Bush, president of the United States, and does condemn his unlawful authorization of wiretaps of Americans." By "Americans," liberals mean anyone on U.S. soil. Al-Qaeda operatives from Pakistan residing in New York instantly become "Americans," provided they're being "wiretapped" by Dick Cheney from his roving white van.
UAE-owned "Dubai Ports World" morphs into an innocent "American" company -- all Bush had to do is get the NSA to spy on it. Deal could've been saved. 'Resolved, the U.S. Senate hereby condemns Bu$hitler's unlawful wiretaps of innocent American companies like Dubai Ports World.'
(No matter how you slice it, though, Bush badly mishandled the whole Dubai ports issue. In every way imaginable. I'll spare you the details. All I can say is, if he keeps this up, no third term!)
"Congress has to reassert our system of government," in response to Bush's warrantless wiretaps, says Feingold, "and the cleanest and the most efficient way" to do this is to pass a warrantless censure, all in hopes Bush would come to his senses and confess he did "something wrong" by spying on al-Qaeda without a warrant.
You'd think that after al-Qaeda had savagely slaughtered 3,000 innocent Americans in cold blood, Bush would acknowledge the sacredness of search warrants! According to reports, al-Qaeda, using hijacked planes, burst into several buildings on 9/11 without search warrants.
Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Transylvania) calls the GOP a "culture of corruption." I think it says something that a party which, back in Clinton's days, begged the "culture of corruption" to censure and not impeach Clinton, now thinks censure is a big deal. It's a "crazy political move," said corruption culturalist Bill Frist, Senate Majority Leader, acting like Senate Majority Leader for the first time in months.
After all the talk of impeachment earlier this year, this whole censure business by Feingold shows that, as stupid as they are, even Democrats have figured out Bush will be President until January, 2009. Fein by me.
But! This censure bidness creates a dilemma for '08 Dems in the same way that horseface's attempt to filibuster Justice Sam AliOto created a dilemma for them. "Many analysts criticized Mr. Kerry's move as futile and unwise, but most Democrats, including Mrs. Clinton, grudgingly went along with it" (The New York Sun, 3/13/06). Most Senate Dems pretend they're undecided on censure, but forcing a floor vote will smoke them out. Can't wait.
Anyway, that's...

My Two Cents...

True Sacrifice

Read:
Philippians 2:17-30

For the work of Christ [Epaphroditus] came close to death, not regarding his life. —Philippians 2:30

Bible In One Year: Deuteronomy 28-29; Mark 14:54-72

cover Teenagers amaze me. So many of them love life with grand passion and face it with unrelenting optimism. Sometimes they demonstrate the Christian life in ways adults can only hope to emulate.

Such is the case with Carissa, a teen who loves soccer, basketball, friends, family, and Jesus. In 2000, her mother was diagnosed with cancer. Carissa was just 12 years old, but she began helping to care for her mom.

During the next few years, Carissa often fed her mom, dressed her, and helped her do anything she couldn't do for herself. "It was so hard to learn," she said. "Can you imagine, a mother and daughter literally changing roles? I truly learned to be a humble servant."

Sometimes, while her friends were out having fun, Carissa was helping her dad to take care of her mom. She continued to do so until the summer of 2004, when Carissa and her family said goodbye to Mom for the last time. As Carissa puts it, "God took her home and made her perfect."

Carissa reminds me of Epaphroditus, who sacrificially cared for Paul's needs (Philippians 2:25-30). What examples of caring, love, and compassion! Not all of us, of course, could set aside our lives to give as they did. But their sacrifice can teach us all about the value of servanthood. —Dave Branon

True greatness does not come to those
Who strive for worldly fame;
It lies instead with those who choose
To serve in Jesus' name. —D. De Haan

When you do little things for others, you do big things for Jesus.
