This weekend ends the longest hiatus in recent memory for a television series as The Sopranos returns for its sixth and final season on HBO. Having watched the series since its inception -- and maintaining my subscription to HBO largely because of it -- the anticipation of the final season and the resolution of its many story lines has created a strong possibility of creating almost impossible expectations for the creators and cast to meet. According to the New York Sun, however, the last twenty shows deliver in every way on the promise built up over the series' first five seasons:
It's every man for himself in the final season of "The Sopranos." The New Jersey crew of captains, thugs, and murderers, led by its charismatic general, no longer manages its mid-range Mafia business with precision; the money doesn't flow the way it used to, and neither does the blood. Loyalty has given way to doubt. The polluted air they breathe - from those hideous smokestacks and sickening stogies in the background of the show's still-mesmerizing credit sequence - has poisoned them at last.

I have all the ingredients for baked ziti, ready to go! :)
And I believe those additional eight episodes are already in the can and ready to go.
No, it is the last season (20 episodes total).
I hope this season is much better than last. Last season had only a couple good episodes. I miss Ralphie. It seems after he left, things got boring.
I've been watching the videos starting with the first season. I had never seen it previously. It's not that great when you watch them back to back.
Don't have HBO so will have to wait for the Video. Love spoilers though so please ping me if there are any live Soprano threads...or spoiler info.
Ditto for The Shield....which I hear is having a great season.
Oh, Yes. More Rome! If ya wanna understand Tony & Co., watch Rome. After Caesar, it'll get more exciting.

The Sopranos & Boston Legal (Denny Crane is a Shatner classic)Battlestar is just as bad or worse than the original.
Yes, but HBO and the writers are calling it one mega season of 20 episodes. I believe the last season of Sex and the City was structured in a similar fashion.

I'm with you there. I loved Rome. From what I heard, we have a long wait as well.
