ROCK ISLAND -- The fear of illegal immigrants working at a pork plant in East Moline resurfaced Friday during a meeting of the Illinois Minuteman Project, which hopes to set up a Quad-Cities chapter.
The Minuteman, a grassroots group aimed at stopping illegal immigration along southern borders, held an informational meeting at the Rock Island VFW to recruit members. About 45 people attended the meeting, as did a few politicians. Others who spoke expressed disgust that immigration laws were not being enforced.
Rosanna Pulido, Minuteman Project state chapter chair from Chicago, said the group's main mission is to "expose politicians' voting record to show privilege to illegal immigrants and expose employers who hire them." There are about 500 Minuteman members in Illinois since the state chapter started last May.
Ms. Pulido, 50, who is of Mexican descent, said she has been called a "traitor" and "racist" by fellow Latinos and told Minuteman recruits they will be, too.
"That's their only ammo," she said.
The group is best-known nationally for its citizens' patrol along the southern border, where members hope to thwart people crossing into the United States from Mexico. "What we showed the government, with a cell phone and a lawn chair, is that you can protect the borders," Ms. Pulido said.
Stella Schneekloth, president of Casa Guanajuato, a Mexican cultural center located in Moline, said she believes the group is trying to take the law into its own hands. "There are proper channels," she said. "That's why we have a government."

She asked me if I was scared, I told her they could get 3 MILLION people downtown to say that breaking the law is ok and it would still be illegal and breaking the law.

She is trying to get custody for her two children, which reside with him. He had a better FREE lawyer, who trumped her paid lawyer. The judge doesn't care that he is in the US illegally.
I got all of his information, and have forwarded it to ICE. He is driving on an illegally acquired VA drivers license (used fake green, SS cards), and has a VA tagged vehicle. The ICE people don't want to hear about it, unless he is a criminal. What the hell is it, when you are here illegally.
I also informed the IRS and VA Dept of Revenue of the employer info. I hope he gets an unpleasant surprise. I would be glad to face him as an accuser. He is a crook!
I spoke with the local Sheriff (Jefferson Co, WV), and was told that unless the Mexican is involved in a moving violation, they have no grounds to stop him, AND WILL NOT EVEN CHECK HIM OUT. What a crock!

Aren't Illegal Immigrants ALWAYS an issue for us regular folks???? It's unbelievable that our elected officials are stone DEAF when it comes to this.
Another way to deter companies from hiring illegal immigrants is to report all known companies to the IRS. Hit them where it hurts worse in the pocketbook. They hire them illegally so as to pay less. So by reporting them they will have to pay more for shortchanging their own people.
Somehow I doubt there are any Muslims in this bunch. :-)
To your point, I would be willing to bet some serious money that if the IRS did start to crack down on employers of illegals for failing to pay the Social Security and taxes, they would be quietly reined in. Take it to the bank, even the much-feared IRS won't be allowed to do anything about this.

Glad you took the trouble to report this....it is one of the many ways we can fight.
Find a competitor of this criminal, Powers, and have him file a RICO civil suit. The competitor sues because the criminal employer is gaining an unfair advantage by breaking the law. He can take the criminal’s business, bank accounts, vehicles, and just about everything else.
The problem is finding a contractor who isn’t a criminal too.
Since you do not live in Chicago I guess you cannot imagine it. JULY 1, 2005 they had a march againt the Illinois Minuteman Project. 40,000 people showed up.
The Chicagoland area is made up of 8 million people. 100,000 is not hard for this group for their turn out.
The problem comes when people do not prepare for it.
I predict they will shut down Chicago.....AND it will backfire. They will wake up all the sleeping people of Illinois.
