Thanks for posting and I agree, we are becoming far too regulated and Orwellian. As a child I was badly bitten by an English Springer Spaniel (sp?). My parents and the owners decided that since I'd teased the dog, (I had) that I had it coming. I stayed away from him and he ended up running away from his owner and mauling a little girl playing in her front yard. He wasn't destroyed he was given to an elderly man who lived alone. My cousins had a cocker named Jetter who was equally aggressive, he'd bite of you tried petting him on the left side of his head (of course I had to try) so I was bitten and bled all over the place but I didn't tell anyone - those were the days when kids were blamed if they acted irresponsibly. To think I could have sued my Aunt and Uncle for millions!

LOL - yes - I've been bitten my a cocker spaniel and was chased on my bike and bitten on the ankle by a shelty but I still rode my bike by the same house and would yell at it and it left me alone. Today I could sue them and then I would not have to work.

Curious, isn't it. I've lived with 'killer dogs' all my life: GSD, Dobermans, Danes and the only dog who ever bit was a Scottie.

I've been bitten once: Cocker Spaniel. Our vets unfailingly mention small dogs: cockers, terriers. Never Dobes, who are amazingly stoic.

So, I've wondered about others sharing my paradoxical relationship with dogs.
