New Jersey had at least two chances to elect a relative outsider to the governor's mansion that might have done something about this, Schundler and then Forrester. The outsider Schundler that ran in 2001 could have cleaned house in Trenton but New Jersey voters decided they'd prefer McGreevey. Forrester was less of an outsider but he still might have done something about it. So they voted for the adulterous jerk Corzine. I'm convinced that New Jersey voters want corruption because it doesn't seem to be on their radar when they vote. Of course there are enough Kool Aid drinking Democrats in New Jersey that if they really did break out the Kool Aid and cyanide like Jim Jones, they'd make Jonestown look like child's play.
