I may be a contender for the record for overloading a Ford Ranger. I regularly had over a ton of material in the back (sod, dirt, rocks, pavers, gravel, crushed limerock, sand, concrete, 5-yard trailer on hitch, bobcat on hitch) when I was in the landscaping biz. I think I went through 3 transmissions...I learned a lot about how not to treat a truck, the hard way...

Yhea but here in Crazyfornia you have to keep "other"necessities in the back.

I have my magnetic[for easy on and off] collection of bumper stickers that I place on my truck every morning depending on which job I am going too.I actually have a celebrate diversity and think globally, act locally sticker I use when building for school teachers here. They seem to have all the money in my area,so I tell em what they want to hear, so that I can get some of it.

Nothing in the back tonight except an umbrella and an emergency kit. But earlier today it contained:

One metal crate containing one Chocolate Labrador Retriever
One training bag containing neoprene dog jacket, fleece dog jacket, two slip leashes, three whistles, two duck calls, a cap pistol and a first aid kit
One canvas case containing one Remington 870 and a ziplock baggie of primed shotgun shells
One bumper bag containing 10 bumpers and 2 Dokkens
One heeling stick
One electronic collar, in carrying case
One 3 gallon plastic kitty litter bucket containing three frozen mallards wrapped in newspaper.
One duck winger
One duck winger trigger assembly, with duck call, in case
Two gallon jug of water and water bucket
My extra rain jacket and cap
Three beach towels and a chamois

. . . you'll never guess what we were doing . . .

A rear wheel drive Ranger is a pain in Fargo's six month winter.

Worst damn vehicle I bought was a Mazda 2300 2WD. Nice little truck, but I swear I got the damn thing stuck going DOWNHILL in the snow.

Last time I ever had a 2WD pickup.

Bedliners rust out the bed in the frozen North. Traps salt moisture. Sprayed on epoxy/rubber magic stuff is better.

Fargo does the worst job of keeping the streets clean I have ever seen. Tell them that there is this new thing called salt. You spread it on the streets and the snow melts.

6-30 lb. bags of sand, can of gas, jug of anti-freeze, jack, piece of 2x6 lumber for jack platform.

Oh! And a 55 gallon drum with Jimmy Hoffa inside.

I would probably dump 120 lbs of rock salt into a rugged Rubbermaid container and secure it into the bed. This is a future plan because I haven't taken delivery of my intended truck as of yet.

We always had rock salt in our cars in the winter time when we lived in New England. It works like magic if you're on ice. The sand solution our neighbors used was totally worthless.

I keep the back of my truck loaded full of money. Money and a good cell phone will get you help no matter what the situation. (and it makes a good fire too)

""When I was a younger man and had a life," stated Clinton, "I owned an El Camino pickup in the '70s...."

I should have known that sleazy-ass Clinton would have had one of those. The El Camino is the ultimate white-trash loser mobile. He probably got it from his shady Hot Springs Used-Car Salesman step-father fro hooking the old man up with some young tail. The only thing lower-rent than that is the Ford Ranchero.

Ahhhhhh, good one. I can't believe you ask that question. You got me.

I live 7 miles from liberal, feminazi, Hollywood, CA. So on hot Summer nights I drive down there, just to p*$$ em off with my littly, bitty truck and what I'm carrying in the bed of my truck. Here I am on Sunset Blvd.
