SAN RAMON - A brawl in San Ramon is unusual in its own right. And in this city, don't be surprised if the mayor comes in to help break it up.
San Ramon Mayor H. Abram Wilson waded into a nighttime parking lot melee between a suspected shoplifter, three plainclothes security guards and a small mob of angry shoppers who attacked the guards, mistakenly believing they were muggers.

How funny!! We shop at this Safeway all the time. It sounds like the Keystone Cops.
I didn't know Wilson was a Republican. Whenever I see him mentioned in local media or magazines, they never mention his party affiliation.

He may have a career in law enforcement after the mayors job -- or maybe the gov's job.

i know he has donated to republicans. I am not sure if he practices conservatism in his office as I don't live in san ramon.

I don't live in San Ramon either, so I can't say if he is a RINO or not. I have read a couple of columns written by him in local mass-mailed Tri-Valley magazines, but I couldn't pick up his party affiliation from his writing.
I am surprised that Safeway has undercover plainclothes security on duty. I know that large retail stores employ such people, but I am surprised to see a grocery store taking such steps. Especially one in a town like San Ramon. There must be a need for to have these people on the payroll, otherwise they wouldn't spend money to do it. There must be a huge black market for illicitly obtained heads of lettuce!!
