Election Year Politics, Racism or both? Who knows.

Wonder how much is attributable to simple surprise (shock) at learning we may not control as much of the Homefront as we thought we did?

If you didn't know that China and Singapore operates ports in the US, and you thought this was something new for foreign business to operate ports. I guess that could be considered shock, or maybe nationalism.

. . . I guess that could be considered shock, or maybe nationalism.

I seriously doubt most people did know or even cared who was running the ports until the news was in their faces.

I knew.  But, as posted somewhere above, the realization hadn't really struck home that our homegrown industries could not or would not compete with outsiders.

Wonder if there is such a thing as Maslow's Hierarchy of National Needs?  Or maybe, the old model applies to countries as well as individuals.

LOL, I think every American and rightly so should want an American company working at ever port terminal in the US, but I guess with worldwide competition we fall short 30 some % of the time.
Its all good.

Are you really saying that Tommy can be bought? I have met this man, and he cannot be purchased any more that Patton could have been. Have you read his book? Do you have any idea of how much this man loves America?

Interesting. As I said yesterday, Gen. Tommy Franks was on Hannity & Colmes last night saying what a strong ally the UAE is, militarily and otherwise. Franks said he was "chossing his words carefully" about why, which obviously means he knows more than he should let on to.

I trust Franks, and probably the UAE's intentions, more than I do DHS' competence (given our border/immigration situation).

Scott Vallely was the son of Retired Major General Paul Vallely, the AUTHOR of this article.

"Scott died on April 20, 2004 while in his fourth week of Special Forces training. He was 29 years old and had just completed Infantry Basic and Advance Courses at Fort Benning, Georgia as well as Airborne School to qualify to attend the Special Forces School at Fort Bragg, NC.

He entered the service in October 2003. His desire was to serve his country and make a contribution to the Global War on Terror to preserve the freedom of the American people and the free world. His goal was to be an elite member of a Special Forces A Team.

Scott always helped other people and was a very generous person. A Memorial Fund has been established to assist and provide monetary support to members of the Armed Forces and/or their families in the time of need. The fund will also serve to provide scholarship assistance to those young men and women who will be serving in the Armed Forces.

This memorial fund was established in April 2004 to honor and memorialize PFC Scott Paul Vallely."

The man is very close to The President and will back him whereever he wants to go. That does not make him right on this issue; and, in that respect he is certainly not a credible independent voice like Patton.

Effeciency is the enemy of unions , less members paying dues, deserves some looking into...

***

This seems to be a major reason for the objections. The union bosses, movers and shakers have used people like Gaffney to stir the pot of xenophobia, then dem politicians came in as "concerned for America's safety"

There is no doubt that most of 9/11 hijackers transited through Dubai. They will also have transited through London, Frankfurt or Amsterdam. Dubai is the main travel hub of the region.

Dubai funded the PLO. Big deal - So did the US and the EU.

I can absolutely assure you that if it came to a choice between the infidel West and their co religionists (sort of) in Iran that The UAE, Qatar, Oman and Kuwait would be singing Yankee Doodle Dandy is a heartbeat. The Govts of Saudi and Bahrain would have to be a little more reserved in public due to the high proportion of Shias in Bahrain and even higher proportion of looney tunes in Saudi

are you going to shrug this off as "no big deal". i thought you would:

An anti-Israeli foundation run by the crown prince of Dubai owns the deed to CAIR's headquarters in Washington DC. The foundation has held telethons to support families of Palestinian suicide bombers.
