UNC's student paper is the target of a sit-in
News And Observer ^ | Jane Stancill

"More than a dozen students marched into The Daily Tar Heel offices at UNC-Chapel Hill and plopped down on the floor to protest the newspaper's publication of an editorial cartoon depicting the Prophet Muhammad. They said they wouldn't leave until the newspaper apologized.

"A student newspaper serves the students," Salma Mirza, a Muslim student from Buffalo, N.Y., said as she read a statement to DTH staffers. "It should not attack students under the pretense of 'promoting open dialogue.' This decision marginalized and belittled many students, and we are banding together in the fear that the precedent of this incident will lead to further attacks on the student body."

"The newspaper's editor, Ryan Tuck, said the protesters were welcome to stay in the offices as long as they did not disrupt the work of student journalists. He said he was sorry that anyone was personally offended by the cartoon, "but we will not issue an apology for its publication.""

"The sit-in followed nearly two weeks of campus debate about the cartoon, drawn by a student cartoonist and published by the newspaper Feb. 9. The Muslim Students Association immediately called for an apology and sponsored a forum last week about the issue."

Sounds like the Feds missed one when they swept that terror cell up there.

Um, Salma? There haven't been any attacks on the student body. Shut up, stop whining, and do your studying like the good little college student, m'kay?

In order to make up for the publication of the cartoon, we would stone Salma Mizra for appearing without a burka.

(Make sense in an Islamic sort of way.)

Wonder when these students will protest these kind of things:

Saudi Arabia - Conversion by a Muslim to another religion is punishable by death. Bibles are illegal. Churches are illegal.

Yemen - Bans proselytizing by non-Muslims and forbids conversions. The Government does not allow the building of new non-Muslim places of worship.

Kuwait - Registration and licensing of religious groups. Members of religions not sanctioned in the Koran may not build places of worship. Prohibits organized religious education for religions other than Islam.

Egypt - Islam is the official state religion and primary source of legislation. Accordingly, religious practices that conflict with Islamic law are prohibited. Muslims may face legal problems if they convert to another faith. Requires non-Muslims to obtain what is now a presidential decree to build a place of worship.

Algeria - The law prohibits public assembly for purposes of practicing a faith other than Islam. Non-Islamic proselytizing is illegal, and the Government restricts the importation of non-Islamic literature for distribution.

Jordan - Has the death penalty for any Muslim selling land to a Jew.

Sudan - Conversion by a Muslim to another religion is punishable by death.

Pakistan - Conversion by a Muslim to another religion is punishable by death. Bans proselytizing by non-Muslims. Christians regularly put in prison for charges of blasphemy.

Malaysia - Every baby born is automatically Muslim and it is illegal to ever change religions.

"More than a dozen students marched into The Daily Tar Heel offices [...] [and]said they wouldn't leave until the newspaper apologized."

"More than a dozen" increasingly unwashed Islamofascists (and willing dhimmis).

Imagine the stench...!

Do not feed them, cut water to the building and see how long they will last.

Good. Next week publish 2 cartoons. If there's more sit ins, then 3 cartoons the following week along with an article about the need for students to community volunteer during their free time.

Have the police escort these children out of the building and down to the local police station. Book 'em on whatever the appropriate misdemeanor charge is, and get them into the system. This will awaken the sensible ones (if there are any) to reality and wiser behavior, and identify the Islamofascists for future reference.

Nah. It ought to be the punishment in the offending members - lopping off the legs which carried the scoundrel, the hands which did evil, the tongue that spoke lies and so on. Here one deals with a less than functional head, thus decapitation, after lopping off that which they sit on during their sit-in...

More open minded acceptance and tolerance from our friends on the left.

When they said "free speech"/"free press" - they didn't mean for you!!! :)

The course on the Koran is required at UNC. I wonder if these students would tolerate charactatures of Dean Smith?
