"Consider the following. If you say something negative about Joseph Smith or Brigham Young, the Mormons wont threaten to kill you. If you malign Moses, Orthodox rabbis wont issue a fatwah against you. If you insult Jesus, in a painting or play, youre likely to get a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. Its only the apostles of the Religion of Peace who are ready to whack you for looking cross-eyed at their beloved prophet." Don Feder, RELIGION OF PEACE WATCH, October 28, 2002

Some FReepers who attended CPAC this year were disgusted with the acceptance of radical Islamists at a "conservative" conference.

CPAC is not what it was, and it's sad to see it so abused by so many abusers intent on abuse.
Perhaps next year there will be some greater sense applied to whoever is even remotely affiliated, because, the NAME of the meet is CONSERVATIVE POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE. Not DemocraticUndergroundMoveOnSorosHamasMuhammad whatever.

It's all about getting votes even if your voters intend to kill you.

I suppose that the bottom line question is:
How can we express our concerns strongly enough to precipitate change?
I agree that there is something totally bizarre and self-defeating in including extremist terrorist apologists at CPAC conferences. Links, anyone?

Tragically, the Conservative Political Action Conference is now unwittingly aiding Americas enemies -- on both fronts

I was more disturbed by those conservatives who believe that government expansion is the answer.
Government is the problem, not the answer.
Get rid of the War on Drugs and a lot of other problems disappear -- violence, corruption, and dealers themselves as the profit motive would go away.
Get rid of the WoD and end the assault on the 2nd and 4th Amendments.
I'm not denying the damage that drugs can do but I beleive that this 'cure' is worse than the disease and it's time to try something else.
