I don't think it'll work either. Our bombing of Osirak was a surprise; this won't be -- the Iranians have taken more than adequate preparations to distribute risk and fortify command centers. I'm not sure of the best way to proceed, but simple air strikes will not alone work.
I agree. The crux of the issue is this - it will take a very significant campaign against Iran to stop the nuke program and/or effect regime change (personally I think regime change is essential). This will entail, one way or another, at least short term panic in the oil markets, and possibly long term oil supply issues. So far, it appears the leaders of the first world countries aren't willing to endure the pain of those energy shortages given the current threat level. On the other hand, perhaps they have a secret plan of some kind. This is the kind of situation that cries out for covert involvement, and I'd guess there are many SF teams in Iran about now.
Let's face the reality, grim as it may be. The only way to get the Iranians to stop is Regime Change. That is a completely different target set.
