the state should use imminent domain to bulldoze LA and replace it with an oil field... think of all the additional tax revenue an oil field would provide !

The active oilfield in question predates this part of LA by 40 years.

"Is this the long-sought proof that oil is not a fossil fuel?"

Since LA sits on an reef-based oilfield, I would think not.

There are pockets of that stuff all over LA. The La Brea Tar pits on Wilshire. Some years ago pockets of methane set parts of shopping malls in the area of the Farmer's Market on fire. But the most seditious goo is in Hollywood.

" Do you have a link to the test well story? Something is happening..."

I read it a couple of places and heard it on the radio one evening but I don't know where. The wells were in the mountains near LA. The reports also said the the ground temp was way up in some places. This may be normal, who knows.

What you're saying could very well be the explanation.

and what about the water temperature in yellowstone park raising?

Yellowstone is an active geothermal system and over time you're going to see changes in geyers and hot springs.
And that mysterious patch of land abot 6 feet underground that was over 400 degrees for some un known reason.

And the 'bulge' forming in washington state?

In the grand scheme of things, it's not a very big bulge..inches high...and the Three Sisters are pretty isolated. It's not uncommon for volcanoes to "breathe" up and down tens of feet (like Iwo Jima caldera) without an eruption.)

Is a Supervolcano going to pop half of the US into the air?

No. There's only one in the US (well, 1 and a half if you count Valles Caldera as one) and there isn't the SLIGHEST indication of any possibility of any imminent supervolcanic eruption there; a tremendous amount of idiocy from kook science types and apocalyptic end times nutters on websites, and a series of somewhat misleading "documentaries."

I will bet money on it.

(I am a pet. engineer/geologist and have seen this 100 times in this kind of field.)

Isn't parrafin a refined product of crude? I believe they are doing some injection drilling close by and it came up through a weakness in the zone. I understand the street and sidewalks in the area were tested at 93-110 degrees.
