Former President Jimmy Carter downplayed criticism of White House support of an Arab-owned company's purchase of a major seaport-operations firm.

WASHINGTON - President Bush is taking a battering from fellow Republicans, even the governors of New York and Maryland, over the administration's support for a decision that gives an Arab company control of some commercial operations at six major seaports -- including Miami-Dade's.
But he got a boost Monday from an unlikely source, frequent critic and former president Jimmy Carter, who downplayed fears that the deal poses a risk.
''The overall threat to the United States and security, I don't think it exists,'' Carter said on CNN's The Situation Room. ``I'm sure the president's done a good job with his subordinates to make sure this is not a threat.''

Ruh Roh Scooby. If Jimmy Carter approves of this deal. it's a bad deal for America. For sure.
Now I know we're on the right track opposing this.
If Jimmy Carter is for it then all those who are against it have had their fears confirmed.
Carter is first and foremost a traitor.

This is pretty funny. Lord knows, Jimmy just can't get enough of being colonized.
If Jimmy Carter likes this deal, then we need to look very closely at it. I don't trust anything from Jimmy's mouth.
Another Bush debacle re: the Islamists. Add this mess to the Hamas mess. And lay it at the feet of Condi Rice. If Bush had suggested this a week after 9-11, he'd have been impeached. What madness.
If Carter supports it, then I am absolutely opposed to it.
That seals the deal. If jimmy carter thinks it is a good idea, then Bush should immediately quash this thing before it goes any further.

That tears it. I thought this was a serious tactical error before...Carter backing the plan has me scared to death.
So on the previous article, the Hildabeast is against this and here Carter is For it. WOW!! Looks like W can't win either way.
Yeah, Carter is an impeccable source of support ... he's the one who gave the Panama Canal away.
