The would-be textbook editors insist the deity of Islam not be identified as “Allah,” but rather “God.” One proposed CIE edit reads:

I thought seperation of church and state was sacred for those folks.
As I recall any sort of historically accurate look at Islam pegs the Muslim Allah as distinct from the god of the Hebrew scripture/Old Testament.
Maybe what is needed is a cdhange of terminology. Instead of 9/11, we should call it "The Muslim Attack on America". I believe that would add clarity to any history book!

The Koran gives four conflicting accounts of Muhammad’s call to be a prophet [the word, Sura, means chapter]:
Suras 53 and 81 — God, or Allah as he is called in Arabic, personally appeared to Muhammad.
Suras 16 and 26 — The call was from the Holy Spirit.
Sura 15 — Angels issued the call.
Sura 2 — Gabriel was the one who appeared to him.

I always thought the Koran said that Allah was a deceiver and trickster. There is a different name for such a being in the Bible and it is not God.
