BERLIN (Hollywood Reporter) - Turkey's "Valley of the Wolves: Iraq," an action drama that depicts U.S. troops in Iraq committing multiple atrocities, is setting new box-office records in its homeland.
The movie has sold more than 3 million tickets since its February 3 release, according to Turkish tracking agency Kenda. The current record-holder for ticket sales in Turkey is "G.O.R.A.," which drew 4 million admissions in 2004. "'Valley of the Wolves' will maybe reach 5 million," a Kenda representative said...
Billy Zane stars as the evangelistic local U.S. commander, a Col. Kurtz-like figure intent on retaining control of the various Kurdish, Arab and Turkish populations at any price...
One scene in the film centers on a swoop on a wedding party, during which a soldier shoots a boy dead in front of his mother, the bride gets a rifle butt in the face and the groom is shot in the head...
Those characters left alive in "Wolves" are taken to the notorious Abu Ghraib prison, where their organs are cut out by a doctor (Gary Busey) and sent to recipients in New York, London and Tel Aviv. The movie also re-enacts the infamous Lindy England/naked prisoner incident, with a female U.S. soldier corralling three writhing detainees...
Zane and Busey are idiots for participating in this film, in my never to be humble opinion.
This story also plays down the incredible anti-semitism.
In their next film, will Zane and Busey star as Islamic bombers who blow up a Jordanian wedding in Amman? Oh wait, that already happened in real life.
People like them should be hung for treason.
And I thought Hollywood actors could not get any worse.
They didn't mention that the Abu Grhaib doctor was Jewish. Maybe this is the final wake-up call to the American public. I hope so.
dont you think gary bussey would jump at a chance for ANY KIND OF RECOGNITION??????? He's not exactly a box office draw. Who cares anyway? We'll wear the hat only it wont' be the bad guy hat...it'll be the GOOD GUY hat. Only the bad guy hat to the enemey is all.
So, where are our two heroes? I haven't heard they are out and around promoting their movie. You would think they would be happy to come out and get some free publicity.
Where's the MSM? I think they would be happy to plug this film.
Patriotism is condemned, then we wonder why traitors openly spew their filth. This country is full of self-hating Americans thanks to the schools, hollywood and the Rat party.
Let Hollywood hollar then!
We need a movie that covers the Armenian Genocide, showing the barbaric Turks what they have done.
Did it ever occur to these knuckleheads that now might not be the time to make anti-American and anti-Semitic propaganda films.
During World War II, Hollywood was firmly on the side of the U.S. Although this particular film was made in Turkey, it's not worthwhile for us to be spending our money on Hollywood products at the present time.
Maybe this is good... they should be very afraid that if they mess with us, we'll either sell or eat their livers and other organs... :)
"People like them should be hung for treason."
The fact that your statement is even debated is a sad comment on what our society has become. I suppose there will be a move to exonerate and glorify Tokyo Rose soon.
