Sex Harassment Is Alleged By a Writer of 'Friends'

SACRAMENTO - Two years after going off the air, the hit television show "Friends," which became a touchstone for a generation of young adults trying to navigate life and love, may be about to set new legal boundaries for talk about sex in the workplace.

The California Supreme Court heard arguments yesterday in a lawsuit brought by a writing assistant fired from the program, Amaani Lyle, who contends that the profanity-riddled and sex-laden diatribes of "Friends" writers constituted sexual harassment.

The company that produced the show, Warner Brothers, claims that programs about sex and relationships require frank and freewheeling discussion of the subject matter. The company has also warned that allowing Ms. Lyle to proceed with her case could put a strait-jacket on writers and dilute the quality of what Americans see on movies and TV.

Friends...a very trashy show not worth watching. I saw it once for about five minutes, that was more than enough for me.

.....could dilute the quality of what Americans see on movies and TV.

Boy, that would take some doing.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

"I would never think that means some guy next to me is going to be drawing a woman's vagina and making jokes about it," Mr. Cummings said in court. He noted in his argument that nothing of that sort ever was displayed on the show.

Actually, I think there was an episode that alluded to that, when someone drew the "seven erogenous zones" on a pad of paper.

What if someone started making jokes about Cummings' name?

Hilarious. Can't stop the inappropriate shows on network TV but a writer could shoot the whole industry down.

LET BOYS BE BOYS!

So much of this sexual harassment BS had its roots in the Calipornia court system.

This isn't a case of being groped or threatened with being fired by the boss for not sleeping with him. This is a case of boys being boys and joking around. Men should not stop being men just because one uptight Women's Studies reject is offended.

If you can't take the heat, get your a-s back in the kitchen.

I wonder what excuss I could make at as an engineer. It's kind of ironic that liberal hollywood is getting a dose of its own PC medicine.

"allowing Ms. Lyle to proceed with her case could put a strait-jacket on writers and dilute the quality of what Americans see on movies and TV"

I say, A POX ON ALL OF THESE MORONS! On the one hand, Ms. Lyle should have no legal case at all, because no one but no one with even an ounce of brain matter should have thought that "writing" for a show of this kind is not going to involve all sorts of lurid banter and crude script ideas in the "writers' meetings".....she had to know what she was signing up for or else she is far too stupid to hold any paying job in this country..... otoh, only a moron would think that reining in the crude excesses of the Hollyweird/TV industry could "dilute the quality of what Americans see on movies and TV"

The really funny thing is that you know all the writers, producers, execs, etc. on the other side of this suit vote for the type of leftwing politicians who invented sexual harassment as a new thought crime in the first place. They're getting a taste of the medicine they prescribed for others, always a shocking experience for liberals.

Yeah, I understand how this person feels.

Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow just WON'T leave ME alone, and ever since Brad left, Jennifer Aniston keeps calling and even comes knocking on my door all too often.

I keep telling them I don't date liberals, but they just won't take NO! for an answer.

I wonder if Lyle's lawyer would take on my case.

Good point.

Yeah, it would be nice if both parties could lose this case.

And after the lawyers collect all their fees, that's a real possibility.

Ah yes, 'Friends' the most poorly written, and utterly predictable "sitcom" in recent memory.

Not that I think it was horrible, compared to almost every other sitcom, Friends was pretty good, which isn't saying very much.

LOL!
(I see you are still sharing your "infinite wisdom" here.)

Should Jennifer Anniston be stoned in public, or executed in a private government ceremony?

Well, if she would just stay home with the kids and clean the house, she wouldn't have to deal with this kind of thing.
