No more redeeming the battery-of-the-month club cards at the 23 Radio Shocks near me.....
I am deeply saddened.

If you don't sell stuff people want you can't stay in business........

Could it be that everything I ever purchased at Radio Shack broke after 3 or 4 days of use.

I hope they manage to turn things around there at RadioShack. I've never been a regular customer of theirs, but it's a great place for when I'm on the road and I need to pick up some kind of computer/phone equipment or accessories in an emergency.

No surprise. I just bought a new HP a1310n PC. Looked at RS first and price was over $900!. Circuit City was $629-$50 rebate, $579! Everything there is way overpriced. They're good for wires or cables when in a crunch, but that's about it.

I remember when RS was the only electronics store. As a teenager in the early 80's, it was like going in to a toy store! These days they are overpriced and have to much competition.

Cell Phone Shack is what they are. All the other stuff they sell is over-priced crap. I'm surprized they've hung on this long.

I worked for RS over the Christmas holiday. Sales were lower than they had hoped. I suspect that was due to people finally taking a stand against Christ-less-ness of many stores.

I am glad to see Verizon go. To get them, you had to put down hundreds of dollars in deposit. Then, no matter when you left them, they chaged you $175! SPrint and now Cingular will offer a much better phone sale.

RadioShack seems to be run by God-fearing Texans, so I hope they survive and do good.

I may be the exception but the products I've bought and recomended have worked fine. My scanner is going on 4 years without a problem.

You just have to confident you know more then the clerks in the stores

RadioShack Corp. (RSH.N: Quote, Profile, Research), whose chief executive has admitted to lying on his resume...

Lying on his resume? Isn't that actually rather normal? I mean, let's be honest here. Who is really 100% truthful on their resume?

RadioShack: "You've got questions, we've got dumb looks."

or:

"You've got questions, we just want your zip code."

The basic problem with Radio Shack is that they OVERCHARGE for almost everything. Cell phone battery car chargers that you can buy for $5 or $10 elsewhere will run you around $30 at Radio Shack.

I'm only surprised it's taken this long. My wife and I never even bother looking at them because their prices are so much higher than other outlets. Don't know why, but it's been consistently true for some time now.

BrandsMart has the BEST electronics prices. The day after Thanksgiving I bought a brand new Colby CD player for just 15 bucks.

Everything that Radio Shack sells I can get at similar or lower prices at Best Buy, or via online discount shops with low overhead.

Man, those Tandy PCs were terrible back in the day.

Oops! I meant that I bought a new Colby DVD player at BrandsMart for just 15 bucks. The prices at BrandsMart for electronics are rock bottom lowest.

I was just thinking about this company the other day after hearing their ad on the radio. My thought? Radioshack is a name and idea whose time has come and gone. Radioshack? What is it, a 1930's hot button name? Come on guys, you are about 80 years behind the times.

In 1979 Radio Shack had the jump on the PC marketplace with the TRS-80. Not as sexy or as powerful a processor than the Apple II just coming on line but they had hundreds of stores to distrubute and market it and Apple had to start first with mail order.

Problem was Radio Shack didn't know the first thing about selling it and instead let thousands get sold instead through the back door to independent computer stores and mail order shops.

Darn, I didn't think refusing to give them my phone number would have had that much of an adverse effect on them.
