We are urged on all sides to appease Muslims.

Why?

Well, because they get angry and kill people. Not all of them, of course, just some of them. But, enough of them to matter.

The problem is not with the holy books, it is with the people who hijack the religions by picking out the passages that best suit the purposes of their larger agendas and running with those.

There are plenty of similar examples in Christianity.

Nonsense.... Read the Koran and read the NEW Testament.

There are no passages in the NT extolling Christians to kill or subdue non believers; or make second class citizens of non believers who also have to pay protection money. - tom

Ok, except for:
The problem is not with the holy books, it is with the people who hijack
the religions by picking out the passages that best suit the purposes of
their larger agendas and running with those.

Nope. The attempt to muzzle/kill ridicule of Islam is what this religion
has been about since about the founding of the religion.
One of Mohammed's first victims was a poetess that dared to mock him
in verse. The Prophet had his assassins take her out...knifing her
while she was cradling her child.

There are plenty of similar examples in Christianity.

Yep. And when they did, they clearly were ditching what they'd read
in The New Testament.
About the only allowance for violence in The New Testament is
self-defense.

OK, there is a big smack-down in the last book!

The Christians get their marching orders from the NEW Testament that is what I was referring to.

When I think of the OLD Testament I think of Judaism.

From Judaism 101-
To Jews, there is no "Old Testament." The books that Christians call the New Testament are not part of Jewish scripture. The so-called Old Testament is known to us as Written Torah or the Tanakh.

In any event, since Jews aren't trying to convert people to Judaism or killing them for refusing to convert I would bet there are no passages in the Old Testament like there are in the Koran.

There are no passages in the NEW Testament like there are in the Koran and Hadiths concerning killing ,converting or subduing non believers. - Tom

Also, each religion has a bottom line, so to speak...a guiding spirit (Spirit in the case of Christianity).

Islam is a religion of war and conquest and domination (any muslim would say that is true...unless that muslim happened to be speaking to an infidel).
