Democrats Top GOP in Lobbyist Cash

Democrats have taken nearly 10 percent more in campaign contributions from lobbyists than Republicans since 1990, an analysis by the non-partisan Center for Responsive Politics revealed this week.

The study deflates Democratic claims that Republicans have created a "culture of corruption” in Congress. It found that Democrats accepted approximately $53 million from lobbyists. In contrast, Republicans accepted $48 million.

In 2005, however, Republicans took in more donations – roughly 55 percent of lobbyist money. That total generally corresponds to the Republican share of Congress.

And it stands in stark contrast to the donations Democrats generated in the early 1990s. Benefiting from control of Congress, Democrats at that time routinely hauled in more than 70 percent of lobbyist donations.

Yes, but Democrats promise only unicorns and sunshine and global love in return for those donations.

And the Democrats know the MSM will make every effort to shield them from the fallout from these annoying little facts.

I just heard that on Rush.

He added a major difference is that the DIMs do not have much cash from real people (individual donors).

Like bacon and eggs

The chicken was involved. The pig was committed !

The union membership has started to realize that pouring money down the democratic rathole isn't getting them anything back, and their influence is waning.

The majority of the people are speaking, and lobbies know that being on the wrong side of the electorate isn't going to get them much of anything except a tax write off.

So are other interest groups.

The RNC ought to run some ads now trying to paint the Dems as the party of corruption.

"It is a simple fact,” she continued, "lobbying is booming under Bush. Since George Bush came to town, the number of lobbyists has doubled in Washington.”

Zzzzzz...as if the same wouldn't have been said had Gore won in 2000 or Kerry in 2004. I love these Democrats. They're such children "Yeah we did something bad but you're worse!" Spare me. Before you go on the attack about something like lobbyest money, your s--- better not stink either. In other words, you better not have taken a dime of it much less MORE than the people you're attacking for having taken it. There's a word for that: hypocrisy.

Exactly...and this also exposes the ignorance of Democrat lobbyist and special interests. Although the Republicans are known as the party of big business, many of those businesses still contribute heavily to the Democrat Party so they can hedge their bets.

This is in stark contrast to Democrat lobbyists and interests who often overwhelmingly contribute to just Democrats. From the Teachers and Labor Unions to environmentalism and race, the Democrats put all their eggs in one basket so when they lose, they don't have the influence they should, and it puts their constituents at a decidely disadvantage. This is just political ignorance that is now working to the detriment of their own voters.
