I hate it when the Dems do something I agree with. Thankfully its not very often.

I'm sure Hilda would rather see Halliburton own the ports.

Even if their effort is all BS to embarass GWB, I will support this effort. That's the difference between Libs and Conservatives. We will agree with a good idea, even if we don't agree with the people behind it. That, dear Libs, is diversity.

Rep. Peter King was on FoxNews this morning. He didn't seem too happy with this deal, either.

If the Federal government passed a law prohibiting foreign-owned companies from operating terminals at U.S. ports tomorrow, this country would probably grind to a halt within 48 hours.

Sad that the republicans are so blind on this issue.

Oh great. HRC's contributions til now have been inconsequential...meaningless resolution type things that honor people who survived cancer or rescue puppies. Total lack of serious track record for a presidential run. She knows she needs something more substantive to point to. This is made to order for a marxist needing to wrap herself in a national security flag.

So if the company from the UAE doesn't get this, who are the other contenders? And have those companies been flashing any money around? Say to Hilliary, maybe?

"The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, a U.S. inter-agency panel that reviews security implications of foreign takeovers of strategic assets, has already reviewed the transaction and did not object. "

This committee needs to be investigated now! They're trying to kill us as they stuff their offshore bank accounts.

There must be something we are missing since this is so insane.

Clinton sold Long Beach Harbor to the Communist Chinese for campaign funds.

Given the choice, I'd rather go back to the days when the Sicialian goombahs controlled most of the major ports than let the Arabs take them over.

Yes, they frequently engaged in unsavory criminal activity, but let me tell you, any terrorist trying to smuggle in a dirty nuke or something would end up under the dock with a meat hook sticking out of his head.

It's a crying shame that we have to cheer left-wingers for standing up for our sovereignty while a Republican president is trying to sell us out.

The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, a U.S. inter-agency panel that reviews security implications of foreign takeovers of strategic assets, has already reviewed the transaction and did not object.

Despite that review, some Republicans and Democrats in the U.S. Congress urged the Bush administration to conduct a more rigorous review. They expressed fears that the UAE was used as a conduit for parts used for nuclear proliferation and that the local banking system had been abused by financiers with possible links to terrorist organizations.

I don't see what it has to do with banking. The security measures for traffic in and out of the port are another matter, but I'd like to see what the agency based its decision on before jumping to conclusions. I doubt that the company would necessarily have lax security just because it was an Arab company. Afterall, its employees are likely to be American, and if they did have lax security, the ports that hire them would likely give them the boot.

A more troublesome problem, though, is whether ownership of this company might give them special access to information about security that would be of use to terrorists.
