Pakistan will have to close down Kashmiri terrorist camps: US

Camps and operations of Kashmiri terrorist outfits working out of Pakistan "will have to be closed down," Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia designate Richard Boucher said on Thursday, asserting that President Pervez Musharraf should change the course of his country as he had decided following 9/11 attacks on US.

Asked during his Senate confirmation hearing about Kashmiri terror outfits operating out of Pakistan, Boucher said Washington had "again and again made clear that the Line of Control has to be respected and camps and operations will have to be closed down."

Boucher was responding to questions by Senator Richard Lugar, panel head of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, in the interactive session following his testimony.

Senator Lugar quizzed Boucher on what the State Department was doing about the resurgence of the Taliban militia operating from bases inside Pakistan as also what Musharraf had done about Kashmiri terrorist groups operating from within his country.

Boucher responded by pointing out that Musharraf had made a "fundamental decision" of changing the course of Pakistan in the aftermath of September 11, 2001 and that this is a long-term effort.

"It is important for Pakistan to carry that out," Boucher said.

Unfortunately, there are too many insane Islamic lunatics in Pakistan for Musharraf to pull off joining the civilized world...

They remain on the threatening and threatened list...

Pakistan has missiles from N Korea and nukes from China. India doesn't have that option. When it did, in the early 90s, the danger Islam posed was ignored by most.

Then what's left?

I know, an organized, unified front is what it takes.

But what do you think our best chance is?

And don't forget to keep an eye on Bangladesh, either. They might have more really committed emerging terrorists per capita than even the Pakis. India has put up a fence.

Don't know really.

Pitting Muslims against Muslims would be good, though.

Bush will be visiting India in just a few weeks.

The American administration is only making some India friendly noises before the big event to build the mood. This kind of diplomatic sweet talk is just a routine exercise carried out before every high level vists. And not for the first time these words are being said. I doubt they ever mean a word of whatever they say.

The madrassas will remain open as long as saudi $ flow into the region. The same applies to all terrorists with ties to the wahabbist petro $. Good luck to Pres.Musharif(SP), b/c he's a dead man walking.
